Job description

Your Impact: 

Pearce/CBRE is seeking an Experienced Critical Power Field Technician (UPS Field Engineer) for Richmond, Virginia, and the surrounding areas, with a commitment to excellence and a strong desire to succeed and develop new skills.  As an Experienced Critical Power Field Technician (UPS Field Engineer), you will directly support our customers in the onsite preventive, corrective, and restorative maintenance of their critical power systems (i.e., UPS, DC systems, inverters, PDUs, STS, and standalone reserve battery technologies). As a Senior UPS Field Service Engineer for Pearce from CBRE, you will possess and utilize the 'hit-the-ground-running' and 'think-outside-the-box' mentalities that drive swift and superb solutions to address our customers' needs. 

Core Responsibilities:

  •  Install electrical equipment such as small rack-mounted UPS equipment, various-sized batteries, and UPS/Battery monitoring equipment.
  •  Maintain Battery Cabinets and racks, Maintenance Bypass, Battery Monitoring Equipment, DC Systems, and other electrical equipment.
  •  Periodic and lifecycle-driven performance of remedial services, including failure analysis and troubleshooting, component replacements and repairs, and battery string replacements and installations.
  •  Customer relationship building - Provide excellent customer service and upsell products.
  •  Field troubleshooting calls from customers to a satisfactory resolution.
  •  Quickly respond to critical situations.
  •  Teach and mentor crew members on proper techniques for site work, troubleshooting, repair, and analyzing site data.
  •  Isolate basic hardware, software, and interface malfunctions utilizing various test equipment on multiple products and technologies.
  •  Specific duties may vary or evolve over time based on business and client needs.

Core Experience

ATTN: This is a Experienced/Senior UPS Field Service Engineer Role. Only applicants with the following experience will be considered.

Please ensure your resume clearly details your UPS work experience before applying.

  •  Prior military training in electronics or avionics (A School, AIT, etc.) preferred
  •  Minimum of three (3) years serving in a third-party critical power field service or technical support role with a demonstrated progression in technical proficiency and capability -OR-
  •  Minimum of five (5) years serving in an OEM service environment in the critical power space
  •  Good understanding of AC/DC electrical principles.
  •  Knowledge of test equipment operation, such as multi-meters, and battery test equipment
  •  Read and interpret electronics schematics with the ability to troubleshoot failures/faults to the component level.
  •  Understand and have experience enforcing compliance with FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations and standards.
  •  Outstanding work ethic, punctuality, trustworthiness, and reliability - you will set the pace as a senior UPS/ Critical Power Engineer.
  •  Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions within fast-paced changing priorities. 

Physical/Work Environment

  • At Pearce, safety is our number one concern. Candidates must be able to comply with OSHA and applicable DOT Standards.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (if driving a Company Vehicle) and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds for short durations.
  • Ability to kneel or crouch periodically.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to travel for multiple days with Per Diem as projects require.
  • Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining 100% safety awareness.
  • Lifting heavy objects and stretching above your head.
