Summary
This position is an intricate part of the operations team and will be responsible for fulfilling all duties related to e-commerce shipping. This person will work closely with the Production, Logistics and Direct to Consumer (DTC) teams to ensure orders are being fulfilled in a timely manner while maintaining high quality standards. The position is also responsible for ensuring all orders are shipped out accurately and on time.
Essential Functions
  • Organize and carry out the packing and fulfillment of each order placed through the website. This includes all coffee subscriptions.
  • Collaborate with, and delegate to, a rotating group of production techs to ensure that each package is properly labeled, accounted for, and out the door on time.
  • Follow through on all packages until they leave the roastery, ensuring accurate and timely pickup. Deliver packages to the post office or UPS in some circumstances.
  • Develop and maintain a working relationship with USPS and UPS drivers. Assist drivers when packages are picked up each night.
  • Communicate with all members of Stumptown's e-commerce team (DTC team, Production Managers, and Digital Marketing department), both verbally and via email.
  • Work with Logistics team to order and maintain inventory for shipping supplies (boxes, tape, labels, etc) as well as e-commerce specific collateral.
  • Utilize NetSuite and Google Sheets to track order numbers and identify trends. Use data to prepare for future order volume.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work space each day in the shipping area.
  • Assess shipping tasks for each day and complete them in order of importance; multi-tasking and adjusting on short notice.
  • Maintain an even demeanor while dealing with shipping deadlines and any emergencies that arise.
  • Demonstrate care and patience when packing boxes, ensuring that items do not break in transit.
  • Use customer feedback (provided by DTC team) to identify patterns in packaging issues, and find creative solutions for those issues.
  • Work a flexible schedule during holidays, including overtime when necessary.

Qualifications:
  • At least one-year experience working in a shipping department or environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • A demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for coffee.
  • Excellent communicator both written and verbal.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Intermediate experience with Google docs, Ship Manager and ERP systems such as D365 is a plus.

Physical Demands:
  • Carry weight, lift - frequently moves materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Weight greater than 50 pounds will be mitigated with a lifting partner or device
  • Stooping-bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist
  • Repetitive motion using the hands, wrists and forearms
  • Standing in place for several hours

The target base compensation for this position is $22/hr.
