JOB SUMMARY

This position is for a Registered Nurse whose responsibility is to provide day-to-day patient care activities to patients receiving therapeutic and diagnostic services in Medical Surgical Services, in accordance with accreditation standards, federal, state, and local regulations, organizational and departmental policies and procedures and professional standards. Utilizes the nursing process to assess, prioritize, plan, deliver, and evaluate neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient responses to potential life threatening situations or illnesses. Refers unusual clinical and administrative problems to the Director of Medical Surgical Services Unit Coordinator, or Resource Charge Nurse. Responsible for the supervision of professional and skilled personnel during an assigned shift. The position reports to the Director of Medical Surgical Services.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum level of Education: Education level equivalent to an associate degree in nursing required.

  • Formal Training: Clinical competence in nursing required.

  • Licensure, Certifications & Registration: Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Georgia; BLS Provider certification required; ACLS Provider certification and PALS provider certification required within 90 days of employment. Instructor certifications do not replace provider certification requirements.

  • Work Experience: Advanced technical nursing skills. Basic cardiac arrhythmia identification skills. Basic computer skills. Completion of an acute care clinical preceptorship while a student nurse if no work experienced yet attained.
