Job description

Job Summary                                                                                                                                                                                           

As a member of the Pre Dig Crew at Moon Valley Nurseries, you will play a vital role in the process of prepping jobsites for tree and plant installations for our customers. Your responsibilities will include digging holes, by hand with shovels, jackhammers, air chisels, etc., according to tree and or shrub specifications.  You will work closely with our team to deliver exceptional service and exceed customer expectations.

 Key Duties and Responsibilities                                                                                                                                                           
  • Responsible for cutting "digging" holes for trees and other plants according to landscape plans and specifications.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and complete projects on time.
  • Assist with loading and unloading plants, tools, equipment and any other equipment needed for the day's tasks, ensuring accurate counts and proper weight distribution.
  • Ensure the proper use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, and any other necessary protective gear to maintain personal safety.
  • Understand and recognize the significance of Blue Stake/811 colors at job sites to prevent damage to underground utilities and adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues
  • Demonstrated availability to work any day of the week.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.
 
Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities                                                                                                                   
  • Ability to perform manual labor
  • Ability to lift and maneuver 75 pounds 
  • Ability to run an air compressor and air chisel
  • Previous experience in landscaping, horticulture, or a related field is preferred but not required
  • Previous experience with operating power tools, hand tools, and other equipment preferred
  • Ability to follow specific instructions and safety protocols

High School Diploma Preferred 

 Physical requirements/Working Conditions                                                                                                                                    

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 15 pounds. Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
