Job description

Job Summary
At Moon Valley Nurseries, you will play a versatile role in supporting various aspects of nursery operations and customer service. Your responsibilities will include performing a range of tasks such as equipment maintenance, yard organization, and customer assistance. This position requires flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to contribute to the overall success of the retail yard.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining the nursery yard to ensure a clean, orderly, and attractive appearance. This may involve communicating plant material waste, rearranging plants, trees, and other merchandise, as well as cleaning and tidying up the yard area.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks on nursery equipment, including vehicles, forklifts, and hand tools. Ensure that all equipment is in proper working condition and safe to use.
  • Assist with loading and unloading plants, trees, and other nursery products into a variety of vehicles. Provide friendly and helpful customer service to ensure a positive shopping experience.
  • Provide assistance to customers and colleagues by loading and unloading plants, trees, and other nursery products into a variety of vehicles, including cars, trucks, trailers, and vans
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while performing tasks in yard such as, proper lifting techniques, operating equipment, handling merchandise, and ensuring a safe environment for customers and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated availability to work any day of the week.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform manual labor.
  • Previous experience with operating power tools, hand tools, and other equipment preferred.
  • Ability to follow specific instructions and safety protocols.

Education
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical requirements/Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally exchange information with colleagues, managers and vendors. The position is active and may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day. The employee must frequently reach for, pull, lift, and/or move items weighing up to and over 75 lbs. The employee must be able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
