Job Title: Forklift Operator / Equipment Handler
Job Description

The Equipment Handler supports daily warehouse operations by safely and efficiently operating material handling equipment, with a primary focus on forklifts. This role ensures accurate loading and unloading at dock doors, maintains organized inventory and equipment records, and contributes to a clean, safe, and efficient warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate stand-up, sit-down, reach truck, slip sheet, and other forklifts safely and efficiently to move products throughout the warehouse.
• Perform daily maintenance checks and minor repairs on warehouse equipment, including forklifts, to ensure proper operation.
• Schedule and conduct routine forklift inspections and document all findings in accordance with company procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment inspections, servicing, and maintenance activities.
• Assist with receiving, identifying, staging, and dispatching goods to ensure efficient cargo flow.
• Load and unload containers and trailers at dock doors, including ocean containers, following proper safety and handling procedures.
• Lift, carry, and move boxes and materials weighing up to 50 pounds as part of loading and unloading activities.
• Ensure all trailers positioned at dock doors are properly locked and secured before loading or unloading.
• Use RF scanners and warehouse management systems (WMS) to support accurate inventory tracking and shipment handling.
• Ensure accuracy in shipment handling, inventory transactions, and documentation related to import and export activities.
• Organize and maintain inventory related to warehouse equipment, parts, and supplies.
• Keep dock and warehouse areas clean, safe, and well-organized to support efficient operations.
• Follow all company standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Support shipping and receiving processes by staging cargo, verifying labels, and checking documentation.
• Promote teamwork and collaboration across warehouse operations by communicating clearly and assisting colleagues as needed.

Essential Skills

• Proven warehouse experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in cargo staging, including organizing and preparing loads for shipment.
• Basic knowledge of import and export processes, including labeling and documentation requirements.
• Understanding of warehouse equipment care, handling, and basic maintenance.
• Knowledge of ocean container loading and unloading at dock level.
• OSHA forklift license or certification.
• Proficiency in operating multiple forklift types, including stand-up, sit-down, double reach, and slip sheet forklifts.
• Ability to use RF scanners to support inventory management and shipment processing.
• Experience with shipping and receiving functions and related documentation.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS).
• Strong commitment to safety, organization, and completing tasks accurately and on time.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as part of daily duties.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience operating reach trucks and slip sheet attachments in a warehouse setting.
• Bilingual communication skills, including Spanish, are preferred.
• Experience working with inventory control processes and material handling procedures.
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members across different warehouse functions.
• Strong attention to detail when handling cargo, labels, and documentation.

Work Environment

This role is based in a warehouse and dock environment focused on cargo handling and storage. You will regularly operate stand-up and sit-down forklifts, reach trucks, slip sheet forklifts, and other material handling equipment. Work involves frequent loading and unloading of containers and trailers at dock doors, including ocean containers, and requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. You will use RF scanners and warehouse management systems (WMS) to support inventory and shipping activities. The environment emphasizes adherence to standard operating procedures and safety guidelines, with an expectation of maintaining clean, organized dock and warehouse areas. Work hours and shifts may vary based on operational needs, and attire should be appropriate for an active warehouse setting, including suitable workwear and safety gear as required.

This is a Contract position based out of Miami, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
