JOB SUMMARY:

Overall Summary of Function

The Receiving Associate is responsible for executing all core receiving tasks including unloading, counting, tagging, scanning, inspecting, and documenting inbound products, vendor deliveries, inter warehouse transfers, and returns. This role ensures products are received accurately, meet quality control standards, and are routed to the correct warehouse departments. The Receiving Associate supports timely inbound workflow, proper material handling, and coordination with Leads and Supervisors to address damaged or incomplete items requiring Maintenance evaluation. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining organization, accuracy, and efficiency within the receiving department while following safety guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
At Minimum Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform stacking and put-away functions by safely storing received products in designated rack locations, warehouse zones, or storage areas while maintaining inventory accuracy and organized warehouse flow.

  • Operate cherry pickers, forklifts, and other authorized equipment as needed to place products into elevated rack locations safely and efficiently, in accordance with company training and safety requirements.

  • Follow established storage standards for product categories including props, furniture, materials, substrates, décor, AV, and Soft Goods, ensuring proper placement, space utilization, and prevention of product damage.

  • Unload trucks, containers, parcel deliveries, vendor shipments, and inter-warehouse transfers.

  • Count, verify, and record inbound items against packing lists, purchase orders, or transfer documents.

  • Apply correct labels, barcodes, receiving tags, and identification markers according to department standards.

  • Complete receiving documentation including packing lists, discrepancy forms, and quality control notes when required.

  • Enter basic data or assist with scanning items into the warehouse system under guidance from Leads or Supervisors.

  • Maintain clear communication with leadership regarding staffing needs, workload changes, operational issues, and daily progress.

  • Support shift transitions by organizing work zones, summarizing shift progress, and preparing incoming teams for continued workflow execution.

  • Accurately check items in and out of the system as part of daily departmental tasks, following standard operating procedures and communicating issues or discrepancies to leadership.

  • Follow quality control standards when pulling, prepping, wrapping, packing, palletizing, storing, loading, and unloading items according to department functions to ensure products remain protected and show ready.

  • Inspect inbound products for damages, missing components, cleanliness, and rental ready condition.

  • Report product defects, mismatches, shortages, or concerns to leadership immediately and follow escalation procedures.

  • Assist in routing damaged products to the Maintenance and Inventory teams or designated quality control areas.

  • Maintain awareness of product categories and condition standards to support accurate quality assessments.

  • Transport inbound items to appropriate warehouse zones such as Inventory, Production, AV, Furniture, Soft Goods, Shipping, or Maintenance.

  • Stage items neatly and safely in designated receiving queues or staging areas.

  • Support movement of items needed urgently for production builds or shipping deadlines.

  • Assist with preparing items for inter-warehouse transfers or internal movement across departments.

  • Follow all established Receiving and quality control Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Maintain consistent accuracy in labeling, counting, scanning, and documentation.

  • Follow direction from Leads and Supervisors to ensure workflow consistency and task prioritization.

  • Keep receiving zones organized and clear from clutter to support efficient operations.

  • Operate order pickers, forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, box trucks, vans, scissor lifts, and other material handling equipment as needed, in accordance with company training, certification, authorization, and safety requirements.

  • Follow all PPE requirements including gloves, steel toe shoes, vests, and other required safety equipment.

  • Maintain safe walkways, remove debris, and report hazards immediately to leadership.

  • Assist in keeping the receiving dock clean, organized, and free from safety risks throughout the shift.

  • Follow and reinforce SOPs for receiving, quality control, documentation, scanning, routing, and safety.

  • Identify workflow issues or recurring errors and report them to leadership.

  • Support labeling consistency, equipment care, workstation organization, and operational readiness.

  • Carry out additional tasks as directed by Leads or Supervisors to support departmental efficiency and maintain organized work areas.

  • Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
At Minimum Training, Education & Experience
  • GED or high school diploma required.

  • Experience in warehouse, logistics, receiving, inventory, or similar environment preferred.

  • Basic understanding of counting, labeling, scanning, or documentation tasks.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining accuracy.

  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow structured processes.

  • Spanish bilingual skills are a plus.

  • Ability to take direction from Leads and Supervisors and work well in a team environment.

  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.

  • Valid driver’s license with clear driving record.

  • Availability for overtime, nights, weekends, and emergency support as needed.
