Position Overview
The Senior Linux/UNIX System Administrator will manage and maintain Linux and UNIX environments, ensuring performance, availability, security, and reliability. This role includes proactive system maintenance, resource management, troubleshooting, automation, system migrations, cloud integration, and disaster recovery. The administrator will also mentor junior team members and support infrastructure modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Administer Red Hat Linux, Solaris, and other Linux/UNIX operating systems.
  • Monitor system performance, capacity, storage utilization, and availability.
  • Perform proactive space management and implement scalability and high-availability solutions.
  • Support physical-to-virtual migrations, cloud integrations, and platform upgrades.
  • Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Troubleshoot complex system and application issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Create and document shell scripts and automation tools for administrative tasks.
  • Maintain system security configurations and apply required updates and patches.
  • Assist with infrastructure replacement plans and hardware refresh cycles.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior administrators.
  • Maintain system documentation, procedures, configurations, and operational records.
Required Qualifications
  • Five or more years of Linux/UNIX system administration experience.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance.
  • Security+ certification.
  • IAT Level II certification or compliance.
  • Oracle Solaris Certified Associate and/or Red Hat Certified System Administrator certification.
  • Strong experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x, Solaris, and other Linux variants.
  • Experience with system migrations, virtualization, backup, recovery, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Strong shell scripting and system automation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer certification.
