Job Description

Position Details:
The primary focus of this position will be around engineering our standards & developing implementation & best practice documentation for hardware (Dell & Oracle), virtualization (VMware, Solaris Zones, & Oracle VM for SPARC Systems aka LDoms), & operating systems (Solaris 10 & 11 and RHEL 5 & 6). A successful candidate must have strong communication skills (both oral and written) as a large part of this role will involve working with the infrastructure architects and other engineering/operations teams as well as producing documentation that will be used for new platform builds. Having a UNIX systems administration background will be a major plus however it's very important to note that this is primarily an engineering role, not a sys admin one.
Responsibilities:
    Typical duties will include taking hardware diagrams and creating OS build documents, testing out and developing procedures for new features (i.e. we're currently testing Solaris 10 local zones in a Solaris 11 global zone), working with infrastructure architecture to determine hardware roadmap, etc.
    Platform Engineering is also responsible for other layers of the stack so if the candidate has experience with Java, application servers (WebLogic, Tomcat/tc Server), message servers (WebSphere MQ), and web servers (particularly SunONE iPlanet), those are also pluses.


Qualifications

Minimum skills:
    Strong understanding of UNIX (Everything is a file, POSIX, etc.) Strong UNIX/Linux experience, preferably with RHEL 5 & 6 and Solaris 10 & 11 Experience with virtualization technology (VMware ESXi, Solaris Zones, Solaris LDoms)
    Ability to use at least one scripting language (bash, ksh, perl, python, etc.)
Preferred skills:
    These are all a plus: Experience with Puppet (or Chef/CFEngine) Experience with Clustering (Linux HA or VCS) Experience with Docker Experience with RHEL 7 Experience with other PE supported tech (WebLogic, tc Server, WebSphere MQ, iPlanet, Java)
    Experience with OpenStack Experience with Java

INTERVIEW PROCESS: 1) Initial Phone screen of 30mins
2) Technical Interview- performed by Team ( tech lead and one other resource) 3-4 people; asks a series of technical/ in-depth questions. Prefers IN PERSON- but will make exceptions if Collabera is able to vouch for the person if they are in a different location.
