Job description

Assistant Professor – Tenure Track or Lecturer

The University of Nebraska at Kearney seeks an Assistant Professor – Tenure Track or Lecturer to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Kinesiology and Sport Sciences. The selected candidate will provide guided clinical instruction within the CAATE-accredited Master of Athletic Training program, deliver in-person and/or online lectures, labs, and graduate athletic training courses. This is a full-time academic position with no athletic department or team assignment. Instruction may include human anatomy, kinesiology, and courses specific to the Master of Athletic Training program. The clinical education will involve working directly with athletic training students on clinical skills within the professional setting. In addition, the faculty implement initiatives to enhance student success in our athletic training clinical courses and education, including standard patient care practices and clinical practice simulations.

Assistant Professor- Tenure Track duties will include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, maintaining active scholarly activities, advising students in the athletic training program and/or pre-athletic training program, and participating in service to the department, college, university, and profession. Lecturer duties will include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, participating in service to the department, college, university, and profession.

Required Qualifications: Lecturer: Master's degree in a relevant field is required. Assistant Professor Tenure Track: Terminal degree such as a PhD, DAT, or other degree in a relevant field is required. ABD candidates will be considered. Additional required qualifications include:

  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
  • Ability to be licensed as an athletic trainer in the State of Nebraska
  • At least 3-5 years of clinical practice record in athletic training and sports medicine

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in Athletic Training or a related content area OR advanced athletic training practice through a residency and/or fellowship
  • Record of specialized clinical credentials or certifications related to athletic training practice.
  • Record of teaching applied/lab-based courses and managing hands-on instruction.
  • Record of clinical education utilizing standard patient care practices and/or clinical practice simulations.
  • Evidence of continuing education in current practice and regulations in athletic training
  • Record of quality professional engagements.
