Position summary
The student writer supports the Office of University Communication by producing written content and assisting with communication-related projects. This role provides hands-on experience in public relations, journalism, storytelling, digital content and organizational communication.
Qualifications summary
  • Currently enrolled as a student at Andrews University.
  • Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills, with attention to detail.
  • Dependable, organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; proactive team player.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Write clear, engaging and accurate news and feature stories for multiple platforms, including the Andrews Agenda (e-newsletter and website), local and church media outlets (such as the Lake Union Herald) and FOCUS magazine (the alumni magazine).
  • Assist with ongoing communication projects, such as data entry, content writing/uploads to the Andrews Agenda and organizing departmental records.
  • Monitor and respond to social media comments and questions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate and communicate proactively with the writing and editorial team to meet deadlines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
