Job description

Location: WISH Clinic Building
Primary Purpose
BI Developer II will contribute to our value based care team. Seeking a developer experienced in financial and / or claims data for health systems. The developer will transform data into a visual format that is easy to understand and can be used to drive management decisions.
Provides excellent communication and people skills and a wiliness to work in a team environment. Models the Parkland ICARE values (Integrity, Collaboration, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Equity) in day-to-day activities. Regularly speaks with clinicians and other data stakeholders and spends time interpreting business requirements as provided. May, at times, need to gather asset requirements directly from stakeholders. Looks for challenges, constantly works towards improving their skill levels, and takes ownership for work assigned to them.
Minimum Specifications
Education
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or a related field.

Experience
  • Must have 2 years of experience working with Business Intelligence (BI) tools and/or languages
  • Experience must include a combination of the following:
  • Developing reports and dashboards using industry related development tools (Crystal reporting, WEBi reporting, and Digital Board Room, Power BI, or other dashboards)
  • Experience using SQL (Structured Query Language) server-based SQL coding like
  • Oracle PL-SQL (Procedural Language/Structured Query Language)
  • Experience working with data warehouses (SAP HANA, SQL Server, Oracle, or
  • others).
  • One (1) year of experience working with healthcare data

Preferred:
  • Prefer 2 years' previous experience working with IT healthcare database support.
  • Prefer 2 years' previous experience within a clinical unit of a healthcare organization.
  • Prefer 2 years' previous experience working with an integrated Electronic Medical Record (EMR) application, within a healthcare organization.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience
May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience from the list above in lieu of specific education and/or experience as explicitly stated above.
Certification/Registration/Licensure
  • Prefer current SQL database certification upon hire: Microsoft Certified Solutions Engineer (MCSE), Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), or SAP HANA Data Modeling.
  • Prefer clinical application oriented reporting certification (i.e. Epic Cogito or Clarity, SAP Business Objects).

Skills or Special Abilities
  • Must understand SQL (Structured Query Language) / Oracle relational and multi-dimensional database structures, schemas, stored procedures, views, and queries.
  • Must have exposure to reporting tools, database services (SAP HANA, SSIS, Apache Nifi), or data modeling, warehouse and virtual universe design.
  • Must have strong analytic and computer skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills
  • Must be able to accept verbal and/or written problems or direction from senior staff and to accomplish projects and tasks.

Responsibilities
Meets customers' analytic needs by designing, testing and implementing high-value Business Intelligence solutions.
Uses industry standard reporting tools to generate basic reports as requested. Uses the latest Business Intelligence development tools, methods, and technologies to implement high performance, analytic solutions.
Facilitates communication and problem resolution with physicians & staff in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Collaborates with team members to learn business processes and capture requirements relative to proposed solutions.
Documents each step of development to ensure adequate communication within the team and customers.
Actively provides prompt responses to customer problems and inquiries. Makes the customer's experience the first priority in all operations.
Resolves ITSM incidents and requests independently within SLA timelines. Takes ownership and resolves incidents and requests with minimal dependence on other team members.
Uses diplomacy to handle conflict with peers, without allowing personal feelings to influence or impact the outcome negatively. Respects, shares and cooperates with fellow teammates and acts with Integrity.
Follows all department procedures (Weekly Status Reports, Customer Delivery, Customer Communications, Request Creation, etc.).
