Job description

CTG is seeking to fill a Universe Basic / MultiValue Application Developer position for our client.

Location: Armonk, NY

Duration: 6 months

Duties:

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain applications using Universe Basic and the Universe MultiValue database.
  • Actively develop new features and capabilities within an established Universe application environment.
  • Design and implement integrations between Universe systems and external applications using technologies such as HTTP, XML, and RPC.
  • Analyze and learn an existing custom code base developed by other engineers.
  • Translate functional and technical specifications created by others into effective application solutions.
  • Participate in a formal Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including development, testing, documentation, and deployment activities.
  • Troubleshoot application issues and collaborate with technical and business teams to resolve defects and implement enhancements.
  • Support modernization and integration initiatives involving existing Universe Basic programs and data.
  • Work with logging and monitoring platforms to assist with application troubleshooting and performance analysis.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members while maintaining development standards and established processes.

Skills:

  • 10+ years of recent, hands-on development experience with Universe Basic and the Universe MultiValue database.
  • Strong expertise actively developing in Universe Basic, with development representing the majority of recent work rather than primarily production support or break/fix activities.
  • Experience developing integrations into and out of Universe-based systems, including HTTP, XML, and RPC.
  • Ability to quickly understand and work effectively within a custom code base that was developed by other individuals.
  • Experience developing applications from specifications created by others.
  • Strong understanding of formal SDLC processes and software development best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical and business stakeholders.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of recent Universe Basic development experience, with demonstrated hands-on application development throughout that period.
  • Experience with Universe MultiValue database development and application support.
  • Experience integrating Universe systems with external applications and services.
  • Experience working within established development methodologies and formal SDLC environments.
  • Hospitality or Vacation Ownership industry experience is a plus.
  • Rocket Software MultiValue Integration Server (MVIS) experience is a plus.
  • Experience with other PICK Basic variants, such as UniData, Pick D3, Reality, or OpenQM, is a plus.
  • Experience using external logging and monitoring platforms such as Splunk or Dynatrace is a plus.
  • Candidates with prior experience supporting this client's environment should be vetted with the client early in the consideration process.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience may be considered.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
