Pay Rate- $19.00 hourly.
Schedule: 6:00 AM to 2:30PM
Tuesday thru Saturday (Off Days Sunday & Monday

Parsec, LLC is seeking a dedicated Gate Inspector to join our team!
In this role, you will utilize your expertise in gate operations, inventory management, and equipment handling-including forklift and yard hostler experience-to make a meaningful contribution to our operations.
As a Gate Inspector, you will efficiently coordinate the movement of trucks and containers in and out of the facility while meticulously inspecting trailers, chassis, and containers for any damage. You will also be responsible for conducting inventory on all trailers, chassis, and containers within the Rail Yard terminal. This position demands strong communication skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Gate Operations:
  • Coordinate the movement of trucks and containers in and out of the facility while inspecting trailers, chassis, and containers for damage.
  • Conduct inventory on all trailers, chassis, and containers located in the rail yard terminal.
  • Operate forklifts and other company-issued equipment, including pickup trucks, to facilitate efficient yard operations.
  • Greet and direct incoming and outgoing trucks, ensuring compliance with terminal rules and verifying necessary documentation.
  • Record and update truck and container information in the terminal's computer system accurately.
  • Maintain organized records of equipment, truck movements, and permits, generating reports on gate activities and truck turn times.
  • Collaborate with yard personnel for proper placement of containers for loading and unloading.
  • Enforce safety protocols and regulations within the gate area.

Documentation, Inventory and Recordkeeping:
  • Collect and review shipping documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Enter data from shipping documents into the terminal's computer system efficiently.
  • Keeping ongoing detailed records of all equipment by location

  • Generate reports on gate activities and truck turn times as needed.

Communication and Coordination:•
  • Communicate effectively with truck drivers, customers, and terminal personnel.
  • Coordinate with yard personnel for the availability and placement of containers.
  • Collaborate with customer service representatives to address inquiries and resolve issues.

Safety and Compliance:
  • Enforce safety protocols and monitor any security concerns or safety hazards.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and assist in conducting safety training for staff.

Customer Service:
  • Provide exceptional service to truck drivers and assist them during their interactions with the terminal.
  • Address and resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Previous experience as a gate or inventory clerk in the intermodal rail or logistics industry preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and data entry software
  • Basic knowledge of transportation and logistics operations
  • Familiarity with safety and security regulations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Demands
  • Frequently stand, walk, and climb in and out of company-issued vehicles.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and perform tasks requiring bending, grasping, and reaching.

Work Environment
  • Work in an intermodal terminal with trucks and heavy machinery.
  • Exposure to elevated noise levels, dust, gas, and fumes.
  • 24/7 operation of the railroad, requiring flexible work hours.
  • Responsibilities include both indoor and outdoor tasks.
  • Encounter various weather conditions, including Rain, Snow, Sleet, Wind, Extreme heat and cold.
  • Mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment.
