Group Summary:
The Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets.
Recognized globally as an innovator in all aspects of vehicle exteriors, Magna provides everything needed, from materials development and design through manufacturing and assembly, to help automakers create sleek, state-of-the-art vehicles across the world.

Job Responsibilities:

QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY TO DO THE JOB:

  • Immediate, open position
  • $80,000 - $90,000 annual compensation
  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized college or university
  • Licensed professional engineer in the Province of Ontario, or ability to obtain one
  • Minimum of 3 + years experience in automotive manufacturing environment in North America or relevant experience
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Project Management
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Energy Management
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation an asset
  • Certified Measurement and Verification Profession (CMVP) an asset
  • Familiar with industry standards, codes and regulations applicable to manufacturing environment in Ontario
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical systems such as but not limited to:
    • Building automation system
    • Air compressors and compressed air distribution systems
    • Water and air-cooled chillers, air handling equipment (fans, make up air units)
    • Natural gas burning equipment, heat exchangers (air to air, air to water, water to water)
    • Abatement RTO (regenerative thermal oxidizers), air handling systems
    • Plant facilities air handling systems (air heaters, air moving equipment), HVAC
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Must have demonstrated good work habits for a period of not less than six months in present job

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Use continuous improvement, six sigma, PDCA and other manufacturing engineering methodologies to reduce scrap, waste, energy consumptions, and water usage in our manufacturing processes
  • Work toward carbon neutrality goal by developing/implementing playbooks, continuous improvement, sustainability projects, and other sustainability engineering methodologies
  • Create and oversee short and long-term projects and strategies that increase energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and minimize unnecessary consumption
  • Implementation and Maintenance of an Energy tracking and monitoring system
  • Collect and analyze internal energy data, develop energy savings opportunities & action plan
  • Drive improvements by leading a cross-functional team(s) to reduce energy usage
  • Lead regular reviews of the Energy Team
  • Seek out provincial, federal, utility incentives for energy efficiency/renewable projects
  • Identify new technologies and Best Practices, both internal and external.
  • Planning, coordination, and execution of assigned projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned
