Description

The Senior Network / Voice Engineer will support enterprise network and voice communications infrastructure within a secure federal environment. This role requires an active TS/SCI clearance and is ideal for a candidate with a strong foundation in core network engineering who also has hands-on experience supporting voice systems, VoIP platforms, unified communications services, and voice equipment moves, adds, and changes. The position will focus on reliable day-to-day operations, technical troubleshooting, equipment configuration, user support, documentation, and coordination with network, telecom, cybersecurity, and mission stakeholders.Key Responsibilities
  • Perform moves, adds, changes, and deletions for voice equipment, user extensions, voicemail accounts, phones, call routing, hunt groups, shared lines, and related telephony services.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot IP phones, analog voice devices, voice gateways, call managers, session border controllers, voicemail systems, and unified communications components.
  • Support day-to-day voice operations, including provisioning, incident response, ticket resolution, user support, endpoint replacement, and coordination of voice service requests.
  • Troubleshoot voice quality and connectivity issues, including one-way audio, dropped calls, registration failures, latency, jitter, packet loss, codec mismatch, dial-plan issues, and PSTN/SIP trunk problems.
  • Support core network engineering tasks, including LAN/WAN connectivity, VLANs, routing, switching, firewall coordination, QoS, network segmentation, and secure network access.
  • Implement and maintain QoS policies to prioritize voice traffic across LAN, WAN, and wireless environments.
  • Coordinate with carriers, vendors, government customers, and internal technical teams to support circuit issues, number assignments, porting activity, trunk configuration, and service restoration.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation for voice infrastructure, phone inventories, extension assignments, dial plans, call flows, topology diagrams, standard operating procedures, and change records.
  • Plan and execute approved network and voice changes through established change management processes while minimizing risk to mission operations.
  • Support cybersecurity and compliance requirements by maintaining secure configurations, assisting with vulnerability remediation, supporting audit requests, and following federal security standards and operational procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior technicians or support staff for voice endpoint configuration, troubleshooting steps, and escalation procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required.
  • U.S. citizenship required due to federal security requirements.
  • Hands-on experience supporting enterprise network and voice infrastructure in federal, defense, intelligence, or similarly secure environments.
  • Experience performing voice moves, adds, changes, and deletions for IP phones, extensions, voicemail, call routing, hunt groups, shared lines, and related telephony services.
  • Working knowledge of VoIP technologies, SIP, RTP, QoS, dial plans, gateways, trunks, voicemail systems, and unified communications platforms.
  • Strong understanding of core networking concepts, including TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, routing, switching, LAN/WAN connectivity, network segmentation, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting Cisco or comparable network and voice technologies, such as Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Unity Connection, voice gateways, IP phones, CUBE/SBCs, routers, and switches.
  • Ability to troubleshoot voice and network issues using logs, packet captures, monitoring tools, call traces, command-line diagnostics, and vendor support resources.
  • Familiarity with secure configuration management, change control, incident management, vulnerability remediation, and documentation requirements in a federal environment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to support end users, brief technical issues, and coordinate effectively with engineering teams and government stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+ CE, or ability to obtain within program requirements.
  • Networking or collaboration certification such as CCNA, CCNP, CCNA Collaboration, CCNP Collaboration, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco Emergency Responder, Cisco Jabber/Webex, Microsoft Teams Phone, Avaya, or other enterprise voice platforms.
  • Experience with SIP trunks, PRI circuits, E911 requirements, analog gateways, paging systems, conference bridges, call recording, or contact center integrations.
  • Experience supporting classified voice environments, multi-site telephony deployments, secure facilities, and mission-critical operational support.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring, voice monitoring, and diagnostic tools such as RTMT, Wireshark, SolarWinds, Splunk, SNMP, SYSLOG, NetFlow, or comparable platforms.

Pay range: $180,000 – $240,000 depending on experience and skill set.
