Job description

Position summary: Leads and coordinates civil information modeling production, policies, procedures, and standards. The Autodesk BIM Manager – Civil3D is an authority on Autodesk interoperability and technical standards, ensuring seamless integration of systems, data, and workflows across JMT for consistent project delivery. This role collaborates to establish and govern Autodesk standards and acts as a support escalation point for issues impacting standards or workflows.

Compensation for this position is $110,000.00 - $130,000.00, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the definition and governance of how Autodesk tools, platforms, and data are configured, connected, and scaled across the organization
  • Assist in the development of firmwide standards for Autodesk Civil 3D, including interoperability, model and data exchange, data federation, metadata, and deliverable packaging
  • Provide guidance for PMs and design teams on model development and coordination. Interface with project managers on team capability requirements
  • Apply best practices to JMT design and production processes, guiding teams in implementing repeatable, compliant project designs aligned with firmwide standards and client requirements
  • Develop model standards for clients, maintain Civil 3D standards, including project setup templates, drawing, object, and label styles, tool palettes and CAD standards, QA/QC requirements, standardized deliverables
  • Coordinate with leadership to manage controlled changes, versioning, and rollout of client and internal design standards across the firm
  • Contribute to automation efforts that support standards enforcement, configuration consistency, and reduced manual effort
  • Collaborate on the development of job aids, playbooks, internal documentation, and workflow/standards-based training materials
  • Contribute to communities of practice, office hours, and targeted training/coaching sessions focused on Autodesk Civil 3D adoption and use. Assist with the propagation of this knowledge throughout the organization
  • Use escalation trends and project feedback to continuously refine standards, enablement strategies, and determine where additional training/SOP documentation is needed
  • Assist with research on new and emerging technologies that can be leveraged through existing CADD investments
  • Manages model integration, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Autodesk Forma, Bentley Infrastructure Cloud, and other supporting design platforms
  • Act as an escalation support point for complex issues where standards interpretation, workflow decisions, or governance direction is required for Civil 3D and related applications
  • Approve related Autodesk upgrade direction and timing, ensuring changes align with enterprise standards and minimizing downstream impacts

Required Skills
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field (focused on transportation projects) from an ABET accredited engineering program
  • 7+ years of experience delivering transportation projects using Autodesk Civil 3D in a production environment
  • Strong knowledge of Civil 3D corridors, surfaces, alignments, profiles, grading, and plan production workflows
  • Experience with BIM/CIM standards, digital delivery, and project execution planning
  • Experience with model setup, standards review, and multidisciplinary coordination
  • Familiarity with DOT modeling standards, Federal Digital Delivery requirements, and ISO 19650
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Qualifications Preferred

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Autodesk certifications related to Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk and Bentley Common Data Environments such as ProjectWise and Forma
  • Working knowledge of Unreal, Unity, Dynamo, AutoLISP, Carlson, Revit, AR\VR, AASHTOWare, Transoft Applications, Infraworks, OpenRoads, OpenBridge, Bluebeam Revu, Revizto, CloudWorx, Recap, and TopoDOT is a plus

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Flexible work location with 10-20% travel required to support local offices.
