DescriptionClackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire a (part-time)Theatre Arts Instructors available for assignments during the academic year 2024-2025. The Communication and Theatre Arts Department at Clackamas Community College seeks a part-time theatre instructor to teach acting and play production classes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:- Instructs students in a classroom. Provides student contact before and after class and by telephone, video conferencing, scheduled meetings or email exchanges during office hours where facilities and schedules permit.
- Books tickets at local theatre productions and accompanies students to productions on Thursday evenings.
- Prepares, distributes and utilizes instructional support materials, include course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media and other devices as appropriate; incorporates the latest classroom technology when available and appropriate to instructional activities.
- Structures classes and curriculum to correspond with the overall program objectives; prepares clear objectives for students for each course.
- Understands, develops and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates sensitivity to diversity within the college community.
- Responsible for classroom and departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate.
- Understands and abides by college policies and regulations and other policies, procedures and materials as required by the college, departments or divisions.
- Convenes classes on time and as scheduled.
- Maintains evaluation and grading records for assigned students; enters grades and provides all necessary documentation for incompletes within established college timelines and guidelines.
- Ensures and emphasizes safe working and classroom conditions and practices.
- May direct aides and work study students as assigned.
- Understands and uses the college's computer system.
AUXILIARY JOB FUNCTIONS:May provide assistance to other department personnel as workload and staffing levels dictate. Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:- Master's degree in theatre or its sub-disciplines OR a bachelor's degree in theatre and 5 years of professional theatre experience.
- Advanced college writing skills.
- Must be available Thursday evenings to lead class.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:- MFA or PhD in Theatre or its sub-disciplines.
- Documented teaching experience at the college or university level.
- Experience directing theatrical productions.
- Experience with online learning systems, such as Moodle.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION:While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach, and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility, including the use of step stools in order to retrieve archived materials. Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 25 pounds on a regular basis such as papers, files, boxes, equipment, computers, etc., and rarely requires moving materials weighing over 25 pounds. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, monitor, projector, calculator, printer, and standard office equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:Work environment includes classroom, lab, or other setting as appropriate.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervision of other personnel is not a typical function assigned to this position. May provide training and orientation to newly assigned personnel, and may assign work to student workers.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Works under the general direction of the Department Chair and/or Dean.
