Job description

Talis Group’s client is a thriving commercial construction company located in Louisville.  This well-established, large contractor is known for its prominent large-scale regional projects and strong company culture.  They are seeking an experienced Union Payroll Specialist to join their growing team. 
This position will report to the Assistant Controller and be responsible for assisting daily payroll & accounts payable processing, including union reporting.   
 
The role is onsite Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.  The company offers a strong benefits package including health, dental, life, disability, 401k with match, and generous PTO.  
Salary range is $60k-$77k (depending on experience.) 
This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a high-volume environment and wants a stable role with a company where they can continue to grow. Preferred candidates MUST have union payroll processing experience.
 
Highlighted Duties:
  • Process in-house weekly payroll for approximately 350+ employees ensuring compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements & Prevailing Wage Laws.
  • Prepare and submit union and non-union payroll data including certified payroll and benefits funding reports.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and perform detailed data entry.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Provide responsive internal and external customer service while working with employees and management.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.
 
Highlighted Requirements:
  • Accounting degree and/or relevant accounting or payroll experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive in-house payroll experience within the construction and union environment required.
  • Experience processing union payroll and union reporting required.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy and organization.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience with payroll and accounting software.
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail. 
  • Great time management and ability to maintain confidentiality.
