Responsibilities:

Provides prompt, efficient, and courteous service to members while processing transactions and answering questions. Completes transactions and related documentation for deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, gift cards, and transfer funds. Responsible for presenting the credit union in a professional and positive image to new or prospective members, employees, and the local community.

Requirements:

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Greet and welcome members to the credit union in a courteous, professional, and timely manner, providing prompt, accurate, and efficient member transactions.
  • Receive share drafts/checks and cash for deposit to accounts, verify amounts, examine share drafts/checks for proper endorsement, and enter deposits into computer records.
  • Cash share drafts/checks and process withdrawals; pay out money after verification of signatures and member balances.
  • Maintain up-to-date comprehensive knowledge of all credit union products and services that are handled or promoted by tellers. Maintain up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of all related policies and procedures, rules, and regulations for the teller area, including robbery procedures.
  • Balance cash drawer at the end of the shift and compare totaled amounts to a computer-generated proof sheet. Research and resolve discrepancies. Report any discrepancies to the supervisor as necessary.
  • Count, check, and package coins and currency. Check night depository bags and record proper information according to credit union procedures.
  • Perform routine member transactions accurately, including deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, loan and credit card payments, transfers, cashier’s checks, gift cards, and check cashing. Answer Active Teller calls and performs all routine transactions as the Live Teller for the ITMs. Provide members with proper receipts for deposits and payments.
  • Provide members with account status, including current balances, loan payoffs, hold status, and transaction history.
  • Assist members with statement problems and share draft reconciliation.

Required Knowledge and Abilities:

Previous experience with customer/member service is preferred. Previous cashier or teller experience is required. Must be able to operate windows-based computer programs. Must be flexible to adapt to the changing of locations and hours, applying skills to demanding time restrictions, and willingness to work well with others in limited spaces.


Training and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.
