Union Stack Emissions Testing refers to the process of measuring and analyzing the gases and particulates released from industrial stacks or chimneys, typically in facilities represented by labor unions. This testing ensures that emissions comply with environmental regulations and standards, helping to protect air quality and public health. Technicians use specialized equipment to collect samples and report results, which may be used for regulatory compliance, environmental reporting, or process optimization. The job often requires knowledge of environmental laws, safety procedures, and technical instrumentation.

What skills and qualifications are needed for union stack emissions testing?

To thrive as a Union Stack Emissions Testing Technician, you need a solid understanding of environmental science, air quality regulations, and emissions sampling techniques, often supported by relevant technical training or certification (such as EPA Method 5 certification). Familiarity with emissions monitoring instruments, calibration tools, and data logging software is typically required. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and effective teamwork are crucial soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure accurate emissions data collection and regulatory compliance, which are vital for protecting public health and meeting environmental standards.

Job description

Albi (albiware.com) is a fast-growing SaaS company on a mission to propel the restoration industry forward by empowering restoration companies with the technology they need to scale and grow their businesses.

Recently voted a Top 10 Start-up in Chicago by LinkedIn and a Top Start-up by BuiltIn, and backed by Y Combinator, this is an exciting time to join our team as we enter a stage of rapid growth and product expansion.

We’re looking for a Full Stack .NET Engineer with solid experience building and shipping web applications on the .NET / C# stack, combined with modern frontend skills, to help us deliver reliable, scalable, and delightful experiences to our customers. This is a mid-level role for an engineer who can independently own complex features end-to-end — from API and data layer through to the UI — make sound technical decisions within their area, and mentor and support more junior engineers along the way.

Key Responsibilities
    • Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs in .NET / C# that power our web and mobile clients.
    • Develop responsive, high-quality frontend features using a modern JavaScript framework (e.g., Angular, React, or Blazor).
    • Own complex features end-to-end — from design and implementation through testing, release, and monitoring.
    • Design and evolve data models and write efficient queries across SQL and NoSQL databases.
    • Debug and resolve issues across services (e.g., data sync between web and mobile), weighing trade-offs to find pragmatic solutions.
    • Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to refine scope and deliver seamless application experiences.
    • Drive performance, reliability, and code quality through automated testing, code reviews, and observability.
    • Contribute to and improve CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling to raise team velocity.
    • Mentor junior engineers, review peers’ work thoughtfully, and contribute to team documentation and knowledge sharing.
    • Participate in architectural discussions and help lead small initiatives or workstreams within your area.

Requirements

    • 3+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years building applications with .NET / C#.
    • Solid frontend experience with a modern JavaScript framework such as Angular, React, or Blazor, including HTML, CSS, and TypeScript.
    • Strong experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and building maintainable, well-tested code.
    • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and sound data modeling.
    • Good understanding of software design principles, patterns, and best practices.
    • Ability to deliver complex features independently with high quality and reliability, and to reason about performance, scalability, and technical trade-offs.
    • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and version control workflows (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Git).
    • Comfortable working in a cloud environment (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
    • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a track record of clearly sharing progress and raising risks early.
    • Bonus: experience with cloud-native architectures, microservices, message queues, or containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
    • Preferred: experience in a fast-moving SaaS product environment.

Note: This is an in-office first role based in downtown Chicago, IL, near Union station. The position requires working on-site minimum of 3 days per week. Fully remote arrangements are not available. This is a direct-hire position (no agencies or contractors). Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Benefits

We’re driven by purpose, fueled by high energy, and backed by venture funding. We’re unapologetically ambitious and make sure that everyone has the support they need to succeed. We value building a strong company culture, being together and collaborating which is why we are an In-Office first organization.

We offer a generous compensation package which includes:

    • Competitive Salary (100K-120K/year)
    • Flexible PTO.
    • Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
    • 401K Plan + Matching.
    • Good balance of personal autonomy and team collaboration on projects.
    • Working on a team of smart, kind humans passionate about leveraging technology to solve real-world problems.
    • Environment where your input is highly valued and personal growth is prioritized.
    • Regular team events and off-sites.
    • Continuing education, mentoring, and career development opportunities.

Your journey is your own, and we’re here to help you thrive, no matter your starting point.
