The Lab Services department at Union Health is looking for team members for the Terre Haute campus. The Lab Services provides services related to lab tests, including specimen collection of the patients, and accessioning, lab tests performed on specimens, recording of lab test results, delivery of lab test results and more.

Phlebotomist Team Lead Job Duties:

  • Must Functions/acts as a work leader in the phlebotomy department to coordinate workflow in one or more of the following areas: Technical Services, Specimen Management, data entry, assigning phlebotomy staff to different areas based on workload, customer services, and administration. 
  • Exhibit proficiency, and be able to access the competency of other phlebotomist in all of the following: Blood Collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups, Urine Drug Screen Collections, Breath Alcohol testing, Pediatric Blood Collection, and difficult draws.
  • Have comprehensive understanding of compliance and safety.
  • Responsible for reviewing and assigning work. 
  • Researches, troubleshoots, and follows-up on customer inquiries and problems.
  • Troubleshoots and assists department employees in resolving problems. 
  • Must exhibit professional appearance and behavior Keeps supervisor informed.
  • Trains employees. 
  • Answer telephones, maintain logs/records, organizational skills, proficiency with numbers, research information, time management, train employees, use computerized databases, written and verbal communications.
  • Performs administrative duties as assigned by Supervisor. 
  • Possess the ability and skill necessary to perform other duties as required by the supervisor.

License/Certification:.

  • Preferred minimum of two years’ experience
  • Must exhibit strong customer service skills demonstrating a patient-centric approach.
  • Knowledge of office equipment and computer experience required
  • Thorough knowledge of phlebotomy procedures and operations.
  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of applicable experience
  • Provider level BLS
  • Meet all state and local requirements for phlebotomy
  • Requires a Valid Driver’s License along with a clean driving record
