Job description

Direct Counsel is looking for a Senior Counsel with 7+ years of experience to join their Labor Management Relations Group. The candidate must be currently licensed to practice law in California and have significant experience representing management in traditional labor matters.

The firm's attorneys partner closely with clients to provide practical, business focused legal counsel that minimizes risk while supporting organizational goals. 

This role will work directly with employers on a wide variety of labor and employment matters, including: 

  • Collective bargaining negotiations, 
  • Grievance administration, 
  • Labor arbitrations, 
  • Union organizing campaigns, 
  • Employment counseling, 
  • Labor issues arising in mergers, acquisitions
  • Other corporate transactions. 

Our attorneys serve as trusted advisors to executives, in-house counsel, and human resources professionals across a broad range of industries, including:

Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Substantial experience advising employers on labor relations strategy, 
  • Collective bargaining, grievance administration, labor arbitrations, union organizing campaigns, and day to day employment counseling. 
  • Experience representing employers in administrative trials before the National Labor Relations Board is a plus.
  • Strong writing, analytical, and client counseling skills are essential.
