Job description

Founded in 1991, Testa Produce, Inc. is the successor entity to the original Dominick Testa and Sons. Testa Produce's roots date back to 1912, with founder Dominick Testa selling stalks of celery door-to-door out of a basket. The creation of the Chicago Terminal Produce Market provided a central selling location for years. As the restaurant industry evolved, so did Testa Produce. In 2011, Testa expanded yet again and moved into its new home: a 91,300 square foot facility to accommodate an ever-growing list of restaurant, hotel and food service customers.ย 

Essential Functions:ย 

  • Perform general physical activities in a warehouse, including loading, unloading, selecting, sorting, and moving products and materials manuallyย ย 
  • Safelyย operateย the forklift to move products throughout the facility including pulling and stocking of productย ย 
  • Utilize powered industrial trucks, including forklifts (including stand-up) and pallet rider jacks to transfer merchandise from one location to anotherย ย 
  • Transport filled and completed orders to the designated shipping assembly areas for further processingย ย 
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency in the warehouseย ย 
  • Select customer orders accurately and efficiently using the Warehouse Management System (WMS)ย ย 
  • Work closely with the Dispatch/Warehouse team to ensure the correct handling of picked ordersย 
  • Perform quality checks to ensure the accuracy of picked orders and report any issues or discrepancies to the supervisorย ย 
  • Comply withย all applicable OSHA and Food Safety regulationsย

Education, and Experience:ย 

  • High school diploma or GEDย 
  • At least 1 year of recent and successful experience performing the above functions in a significant manufacturing or warehouse/distribution environment. Prior distribution or food industry experience preferredย 
  • Experience with Power Industrial Equipment including forklifts and RF scanner, preferredย 

Compensation:ย 

  • $ย 16.60/hourย 

Schedule:ย ย 

  • Monday - Thursday (Friday and Sundayย off)ย 
  • Start time: 7:00amย 
  • Some mandatory Holiday work includedย 

Physical Demands:ย ย 

  • Lift up to 50lbsย 
  • Stand or walk forย long periodsย of timeย 
  • Work in cold and wet cooler conditions for extended periods of timeย
