Due to the planned retirement of our standing EVP Chief Financial Officer, CoastHills Federal Credit Union is seeking an experienced, strategic leader to assume the role of EVP CFO. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, the EVP Chief Financial Officer plans, directs, and controls the Credit Unions overall financial plans, policies and accounting practices established by the President/CEO and the Board of Directors.

As a key member of the Leadership, the EVP Chief Financial Officer (CFO) reports directly to the President/CEO and assumes a strategic role in the overall management of the Credit Union. Responsible for executing comprehensive financial strategies that incorporate sound Asset/Liability Management practices while setting and meeting both short and long term financial strategies. Oversees financial forecasting and reporting, all accounting functions, and budgeting, and is the primary management contact for all financial related audits. Plans, directs, and controls the Credit Union’s overall financial plans, policies, and accounting practices. Strategically leads all aspects of finance and accounting for the Credit Union.

• Serves as key member of Leadership and supports the strategic priorities of the Credit Union.
• Chairs the Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) and Investment Committee.
• Assesses and evaluates the financial performance of the Credit Union.
• Collaborates with executive management and others in an informed process to guide long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts. Provides insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plans.
• Develops strategic financial plans that optimize risk-based earnings potential as part of financial and strategic plans.
• Interprets financial information and market/economic conditions and makes judgments regarding likely impact on Credit Union operations, risk tolerance, and financial results.
• Creates and establishes yearly financial objectives that align with Credit Union’s strategic plans and objectives.
• Leads continuous improvement in the annual budget preparation and administration process to control operating expenses and achieve the Credit Union’s strategic objectives.
• Oversees preparation of tax returns and government reporting, including the Call Report.
• Provides leadership, analysis and reporting that leads to effective expense controls throughout the Credit Union.
• Monitors interest rate, credit, and portfolio risk status and sets limitations as required for asset/liability management. Identifies ways to reduce interest rate risk and sensitivity. Provides detailed ALCO and Investment reports to Board and Leadership. Updates the ALM policy in accordance with NCUA rules and regulations.
• Engages internal and external subject matter experts to continuously improve the sophistication of systems, processes and reporting commensurate with the complexity and size of the Credit Union.
• Represents the Credit Union on financial matters with industry, governmental, and regulatory agencies, and responds and reacts timely and proactively to fix or mitigate regulatory examination and audit findings.
• Participates in and executes on pivotal decisions as relates to strategic initiatives and operational and financial models.
• Prepares and presents monthly financial reports including budget-to-actual and period-over-period results..
• Identifies, develops, and executes analyses of business initiatives, product launches, and/or new service offerings.
• Ensures the proper functioning of all accounting systems, databases, and financial software. Proficient use of accounting systems, databases and financial software. Collaborates with IT on updates, functionality and performance of systems as needed.
• Performs or engages experts to perform interest rate risk analysis and reports results to the Asset Liability Committee.
• Responsible for development, analysis, monitoring, and reporting variances of Credit Union’s annual budget.
• Establishes major economic and financial objectives and policies.
• Provides oversight and analysis in financial reporting, asset/liability management, and strategic planning.
• Actively participates in Leadership activities, such as Board meetings, Asset Liability Committee, Loan and Deposit pricing committees, and strategic planning.
• Supports ERM governance, with emphasis on financial risk, liquidity, capital, asset/liability management, investments, and model and vendor risk.
• Aids the development and implementation of an Enterprise Risk Program or Management model.
• Provides leadership and support during all financial/accounting related audit functions, including YE Financial Audits and NCUA examinations. Needs to develop good working relations with audit partners and NCUA examiners.
• Manages the Credit Union’s insurance program to include oversight of broker relationship and ensures timely reporting of claims activity. Primary contact for broker. Keeps executive team informed of any changes or incidents impacting insurance coverage. Coordinates presentation of policy renewal for the Board of Directors for their approval.

• Oversees the activities and responsibilities of the employees managed, and provides ongoing motivation, coaching, training and development.
• Supervisory responsibilities include, but are not limited to interviewing, assessment and selection; orientation and training; assigning and directing work; staff scheduling and timecard management, and performance evaluation and discipline.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Credit Union policies and applicable laws and regulations.
• Regularly schedules and conducts department meetings to inform employees of Credit Union goals, promotions, products, services and activities and to encourage participation and open communication.

• Education and Experience

• MBA preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
• 10 or more years of senior level management responsibility in key financial and accounting positions in a regulated financial industry.
• Knowledge and understanding of Credit Union financial and operational activities.

• Certificates, Licenses and Registrations
• CPA or CFA required.

• Knowledge
• Board Bylaws and Credit Union goals, organizational structure, policies, procedures (including Office Procedure Manual and Employee Handbook), practices, and systems.
• Federal and state laws governing credit unions.
• Credit Union products, services, programs, and promotions.
• Proficient in MS Office and other software necessary to perform position.

• Supervisory Skills and Abilities
• Possesses skills in directing, coaching, motivating, delegating, evaluating, and counseling assigned employees.
• Knowledge and experience in promoting teamwork and eliminating barriers to effectively working within the Department and across the Credit Union organizational structure.

• Other Skills and Abilities
• Ability to travel, attend, and participate in meetings, seminars, and conferences held before and after normal business hours that may require unaccompanied long-distance travel and overnight lodging.
