Job description

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading container terminal operator based in Oakland, California. This company is one of the primary terminal operators at a major West Coast port and is in the middle of a significant infrastructure modernization program, including recently installed new ship-to-shore crane equipment designed to service the world's largest container vessels.
They are looking to add two Operations Managers to lead the day-to-day supervision of terminal labor and cargo operations.
What You Will Do:
Manage and supervise longshore workers, foremen, supercargoes, and planners across vessel, yard, gate, and rail functions. Make real-time decisions on labor assignments, shift extensions, and equipment needs. Handle discipline, grievances, and labor dispatch in compliance with collective bargaining agreement provisions. Prepare shift productivity reports and coordinate with maintenance and repair. Ensure compliance with hazardous cargo regulations and safety protocols.
What You Bring:
Bachelor's degree in operations, marine administration, transportation, engineering, or equivalent management experience. Two or more years managing union labor under a collective bargaining agreement. Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and up to 12-hour shifts. A valid driver's license. Container terminal or port operations experience is a strong plus.
