Project Overview:

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world. 

Job Summary:

Candidate will support the site supervision and permitting team in the coordination and execution of inspections with the Jurisdiction Having Authority, Fire Marshall, Special Inspection Agency, and other building code specified agencies. The position will require knowledge of engineering, knowledge of International and Ohio building codes, and the general permitting process. Individual will support Bechtel Superintendents, Bechtel Craft Professionals, and Bechtel Subcontractors in the Campus Site Development, Buildout, and Planning. #LI-CL1

Major Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and coordinate inspections with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and other building officials.
  • Inspect and validate drawing and code compliance of direct hire and sub-contractor scope onsite.  
  • Participate in planning in coordination meeting with the AHJ, Client, and Design Engineering Teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to address constructability and design challenges related to work execution or the permit process.  
  • Provide comprehensive field engineering support to superintendents and project personnel, ensuring adherence to cost and schedule objectives
  • Develop work plans, perform material take-offs, create material requisitions, perform and document quality control inspections, assist in resolving design and construction conflicts related to the installation of commodities 
  • Assure procedural compliance for work being completed in the field
  • Review specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals, and technical data to assist and advise on site. 
  • Oversee, interface, and coordinate with subcontractors and subcontractor work efforts. Assist in the management of subcontract changes.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, city planning, architecture, or a related subject from an accredited university; or in lieu of a degree, 8-10 years of progressive construction/planning/permitting experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proficient Knowledge of Internation Building Code
  • Proficient Knowledge of Ohio Building Code
  • Basic understanding of Site Development and Site Planning
  • Computer literacy with the ability to work efficiently within the Microsoft Suite
  • Basic experience with drafting and modeling software such as AutoCAD
