Job description


Pay: $43.11/hour
Aramark Facilities Management is hiring a Journeyman Electrician to support the General Motors Global Technical Center, a large, non-manufacturing campus listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
This role is ideal for an experienced electrician with a strong commercial/industrial background (preferred over residential) who is comfortable working with high-voltage systems in a complex facilities environment.
UAW JOURNEYPERSON REQUIREMENTS:
1. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion of a Bonafide 4 year/8000 hour apprenticeship program.
2. If not, must have 8 years of verifiable experience.
If the 8 years is from a UAW facility, you must have a letter from the facility on company letterhead stating the dates of service and classification/s of the work performed during the years you are submitting as your experience. This letter must then be signed by a company representative with their name and title printed and it must also be signed by the local union bargaining chair or steward at the facility with their name and title printed.
If the 8 years experience is not at the UAW facility, the additional years of verifiable experience must be on company letterhead, signed by the company representative and then taken to be notarized.
Job Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial electrical systems
  • Work with high-voltage systems (up to 480V), power distribution, switchgear, transformers, and UPS systems
  • Read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and prints
  • Bend and install conduit; pull wire; install electrical fixtures and controls
  • Perform root cause analysis and advanced electrical troubleshooting
  • Utilize CMMS systems (e.g., Maximo) for work orders and documentation
  • Test electrical components for voltage, current, continuity, and resistance
  • Support plant engineering and project teams on equipment installation and upgrades
  • Coach and mentor apprentices as assigned
  • Operate lifts, forklifts, and work safely at heights
  • Follow all GM Global Technical Center and Aramark safety policies

Qualifications
  • Active State of Michigan Journeyman Electrician license or Journeyman card
  • Minimum 7+ years of commercial or industrial electrical experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical degree preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC standards and electrical safety practices
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a skilled trades team
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
  • Physically capable of performing trade duties, including lifting and working at heights
  • This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
