Job description

Overview

To provide the highest level of service pertaining to analyzing and completing building maintenance requirements for construction, alteration, painting, installation, and repairs. Assist with development of Apprentice and Journeyman. Serves as team lead for building maintenance projects as assigned by Supervisor. Works closely with other Facility teams to complete new projects, renovations as well as respond to on campus emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Construct/layout/design metal stud walls, Computer floors, Acoustical Ceilings, drywall hanging, finishing, painting, wood working and other carpentry task as assigned.
  • Responsible for ordering materials for new construction projects.
  • Provide support for Navy Federal Business units by assisting with the setup of Navy Federal sponsored events.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on the building and its furnishings.
  • Manages the Equipment Maintenance Program for the section through coordination of the following responsibilities: developing and maintaining a preventative maintenance checklist for equipment, instructing staff on preventative maintenance procedures and monitoring compliance.
  • Trains Apprentice and Journeyman in the operations performed in the maintenance/carpentry field.
  • Fill in as acting supervisor in supervisors' absence.
  • Work as a team lead to peers in assigned task/projects.
  • Conducts job analysis to determine the scope of each project in terms of requirements versus resources and work closely with customers, contractors, and various levels of Navy Federal Credit Union.
  • Ensures scheduled completion of project by working with the customer, contractor and various levels of Navy Federal Credit Union employees.
  • Reviews technical documentation and blueprints provided by architects/engineers/space management and contractors.
  • Provide oversight & coordination to external contractors and vendors for quality and adherence to contract specifications.

Qualifications

  • Must possess driver's license
  • Experience that demonstrates thorough knowledge, skill and successful performance of job functions at the journeyman level
  • Successful completion of the Apprenticeship Program for carpenters or formal training equivalent
  • Thorough knowledge of local, state, and national building codes
  • Knowledge of the tools, mathematics, codes, materials and safety regulations associated with the carpentry trade
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member to gain the cooperation of others
  • Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lift, move, and set-up tools, equipment and furniture weighing in excess of 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications

  • OSHA Certifications.
  • Previous history working in the Facility Maintenance field
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Thorough knowledge of local, state, and national building codes.
