Job description

Delivers items by establishing routes, operating the truck, and maintaining schedule. The driver must secure company assets and ensure compliance with company policies as well as state and local driving rules and regulations. Under direct supervision of the Transportation Manager, and the ultimate supervision of the Warehouse Manager, the Driver is responsible for performing the following duties:
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Store deliveries:

    • Perform Pre Trip Inspection to ensure that both tractor and trailer are in operable conditions.
    • Assist Store Management in unloading product into warehouse using electric pallet jack.
    • Sweep out dry box trailers after grocery deliveries.
    • Bring copies of UNFI Invoices signed by Manager in charge at store to be returned to Distribution Center.
    • While in stores, employees must conduct themselves in a professional manner towards customers and other Superior's employees.

  • Employees are responsible for recording lunches whether they are at the Distribution Center or on the road.
  • The company vehicle is for company use only.
  • Keep the vehicle keys at all times.
  • Any type of accident must be reported to the manager immediately and per company's policy, it would be required to take a Drug & Alcohol test. Follow procedures to properly document any and all accidents.
  • Log in/out of Electronic Log-In Device (ELD) to comply with DOT regulations.
  • Pick Ups:
    • Review assigned workload, go to designated vehicle and inspect trailer for correct load and matching invoices.
    • Inspection of vehicle before starting the route.
    • Drive to delivery or pick up location.
    • Follow loading instructions per vendor's instructions.
    • Pick-up billing information and continue the delivery of the product to destination.

Job Requirements:
Education:
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Must have current Class A license

Experience:
  • Must have clean driving record
  • Commercial driving experience preferred

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Willing to work weekends and overtime as needed is preferred
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening including background check, drug testing and physical
  • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize as situations and needs change throughout the workday
  • Excellent follow-through and attention to detail
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to read and interpret documents written in English such as procedures, work instructions, bills of lading, and timesheets
  • Ability to speak and communicate well in English with customers and coworkers
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift 50lbs

Range: $22.00 to $30.00
