Location: Lufkin, TX Area
Schedule: Typically 40–50 hours per week | Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (earlier start times may be required)

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Underground Foreman to lead a small underground construction crew supporting fiber optic network expansion and maintenance projects. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day underground construction activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to customer specifications. Typical work includes conduit placement, cable placement, service extensions, repairs, locating existing facilities, and restoration work in support of telecommunications infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have experience leading underground fiber construction crews and a strong understanding of outside plant (OSP) construction practices.
Underground Foreman Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a 3-person underground fiber construction crew.
- Coordinate and perform underground construction activities, including:
- Cable placement and pulling
- Conduit installation
- Utility locating and potholing
- Missile boring and trenching operations
- Small service extensions and maintenance work
- Road crossings and underground utility crossings
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with customer requirements, company standards, and safety regulations.
- Maintain daily production goals and crew productivity.
- Complete and submit required project documentation, including:
- Marked-up construction maps
- As-built documentation
- Production reports and job completion records
- Communicate with project managers, construction supervisors, billing coordinators, and customers regarding project status and completion.
- Participate in an on-call rotation as required.
- Ensure quality workmanship and proper restoration of work areas.
- Operate and maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
Required Qualifications for Underground Foreman
- 3–5 years of underground construction experience.
- Previous experience serving as a Foreman, Lead, or senior crew member in underground telecommunications construction.
- Strong understanding of:
- Horizontal Directional Drilling
- Mini X operation
- Underground utility construction methods
- Ability to read and interpret construction prints, maps, and utility locates.
- Experience completing as-built documentation and field reporting.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with missile boring operations.
- Directional drill experience
- Knowledge of utility locating and damage prevention practices.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move construction materials, conduit, cable, and equipment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work including digging, pulling cable, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
