Job Description
Under the direction of the Underground Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, the Underground Mobile Maintenance Technician is responsible for safely inspecting, troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing underground mobile mining equipment in both shop and field environments. This role supports reliable production by maintaining loaders, haul trucks, drills, bolters, shotcrete and support equipment, with a strong focus on safety, equipment availability, diagnostic accuracy, and quality workmanship in a fast-paced underground mining operation.
Job Responsibilities
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including underground mining standards and safe work practices.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair underground mobile equipment including loaders, haul trucks, drills, bolters, shotcrete equipment, utility vehicles, and other support equipment.
  • Perform planned maintenance, component change-outs, breakdown repairs, and follow-up inspections in both underground field locations and shop settings.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, powertrain, and braking systems using schematics, manuals, onboard diagnostics, and technical support resources.
  • Read and interpret service manuals, blueprints, parts information, and equipment schematics to complete accurate and efficient repairs.
  • Complete detailed work orders, service reports, failure documentation, and parts requests with a high level of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards in work areas, service trucks, and shops to support a safe and efficient underground maintenance environment.
  • Work closely with operations, planning, warehouse, and fellow maintenance team members to minimize downtime and support reliable production.
  • Demonstrate ownership of assigned equipment, tools, and tasks while consistently meeting performance, attendance, and workmanship expectations.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts, share technical knowledge with teammates, and assist in developing less experienced maintenance personnel.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervision in support of underground maintenance and production objectives.

Education and Experience
  • Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Three (3) or more years of heavy equipment maintenance experience preferred, with underground mobile maintenance experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills in hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and powertrain systems on underground mining equipment required.
  • Experience maintaining underground equipment such as loaders, haul trucks, jumbos, bolters, drills, shotcrete units, and utility/support equipment preferred.
  • Strong background in underground drilling and bolting equipment repair is highly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, service manuals, technical bulletins, and parts information required.
  • Experience with OEM diagnostic and service software is preferred.
  • Diesel technology training, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience is preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate support equipment including forklifts, skid steers, telehandlers, service trucks, and similar tools/equipment preferred.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across maintenance and operations teams required.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and perform effectively with limited supervision in a production-driven underground environment required.
  • Strong computer skills for work order entry, equipment history review, and maintenance reporting preferred.
  • Must have a proven commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and dependable attendance.
  • Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and callouts as needed to support operations.
  • Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Skills
  • Must have sufficient mechanical knowledge.
  • 4-5 years of underground heavy equipment repair experience preferred.

  • Must be willing to work overtime on short notice.
  • Diesel technician diploma is preferred.

  • Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of the management team.
  • Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills.
  • Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Requires valid driver's license.
