Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Horizontal Directional Drill Locator to join our team to locate for our drill rigs. The HDD Locator will be responsible for safely and efficiently completing directional drilling operations to install underground conduit, fiber, and other utilities on construction and infrastructure projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Locate using Subsite, DCI, or Underground Magnetics for the drills in accordance with job specifications and safety guidelines.
  • Read and interpret utility maps, blueprints, and job plans to ensure proper placement of conduit or piping.
  • Work closely with drill operator to guide and complete bores safely and accurately.
  • Monitor existing utilities to ensure adequate separation is achieved.
  • Troubleshoot drilling issues and perform basic maintenance on the drill and support equipment.
  • Ensure proper documentation of bore logs, as-builts, and job site activities.
  • Always adhere to company safety standards and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work site, ensuring public and team safety.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2+ years of HDD locating experience.
  • Preferably experience locating for rock drills such as hammers or AT series drills.
  • Strong understanding of underground utility construction and drilling operations.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and interpret utility locate markings.
  • Experience with electronic locating equipment (e.g., Subsite, DigiTrak, Underground Magnetics).
  • Must have a valid driverโ€™s license; CDL preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.


Preferred Skills:

  • CDL Class A with tanker endorsement.
  • OSHA 10/30 or other safety certifications.
  • Experience with utility installation (fiber optic, gas, water, etc.).
  • Basic mechanical skills for maintenance and troubleshooting.
