Description

Position Objective

Position duties include but are not limited to: coordinate the rentals and inside sales of Underground Equipment in order to reach profit goals assigned by management.

Essential Position Duties
  • Assists the branch manager in leading the staff to make decisions to improve workplace, company, marketplace and customer satisfaction
  • Models the appropriate pace for peers in the sales force and works with the branch manager in setting yearly goals to achieve.
  • Handles accounts, provides prompt, courteous service to customers, and works to solve customers’ problems both over the phone and face to face in the store.
  • Assist in managing the fleet, shop operations, trucking and administrative areas
  • Assist in purchasing of small rental fleet, parts, and repair items
  • Coordinate and process rentals and sales from start to finish while maintaining proper paperwork and accurate organization throughout.
  • Assist Outside Sales people and managers in tracking existing fleet, reviewing outgoing rentals, and locating specific units needed for upcoming rental deals
  • Works with branch manager to keep branch profitable
  • Promote the Underground Equipment business using all available marketing and /or job tracking tools
  • Promote rentals and sales through phone marketing
  • Strive to make sound, profitable decisions within realm of control and within management’s guidelines and polices
  • Manages COD accounts along with CAT Access customers
  • Runs reports daily/weekly (open tub, slow rent, yard inventory)
  • Keeps daily call log of incoming phone calls and reports these weekly to branch manager
  • Creates rental and sales quotes using the approved documentation
  • Other related duties and projects assigned by management
  • Assist in management of branch level safety program in all areas to ensure all policies and procedures are enforced with responsibility for all results. This includes:
  • Adhering to all safety rules for policies and enforcement of theses
  • Keep shop and equipment staging area clean and free of clutter
  • Maintain all hazardous material law II series procedures
  • Ensure that overhead cranes, floor jacks, compressor, welding carts, fire extinguishers, etc. are inspected and documented
  • Enforce all personal protective equipment rules and regulations
  • Ensure all safety rules and policies are enforced
  • Have a weekly tool box safety meeting and document it with a copy given to manager daily.
  • Ensure that all ANSI and DOT inspections are completed with 0 days late
Position Requirements
  • Knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through a high school education with technical training. College experience preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of sales experience.
  • High school equivalency math skills required
  • Mechanical troubleshooting experience is very helpful
  • Familiarity with surrounding areas would be helpful as well as the ability to read and understand maps of the city and surrounding areas
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, non-verbal, listening and presentation skills
  • Excellent analytical skills such as problem solving and the ability to interpret policies, procedures and guidelines
  • A complete knowledge of the market and the product with the ability to discuss the technical aspects of the equipment
  • Strong leadership skills such as creative thinking, decision making and goal setting
  • Moderate computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to lift 70+ pounds on an as needed basis in order to assist customers with products
  • Must be able to operate all equipment safely
Difficulty of Work and Responsibility

Incumbent performs duties broad in scope and must interpret and apply policies, procedures, guidelines and laws that are generally easy to follow, including CAT guidelines and company policies and procedures. Incumbent performs duties such as pricing strategies and product specifications that are more difficult to obtain, as well as to interpret and apply. Incumbent writes job orders for equipment that will be rented out to customers, which are generally easy to complete. Incumbent completes full contractual agreements for equipment rented out which is a fairly complex and detail oriented task and does require proper training. An error in judgment or procedure such as not completing a contractual agreement or a job order could impact revenues, expenses, operating profits, legal compliance, customer relations and company reputation.
