Job Title and Description:
Underground Utility Helper – Fire & Water LinesJob Summary:We are hiring an Underground Helper to support crews installing underground fire lines and potable water systems. This position assists with pipe installation, trench work, and jobsite operations for commercial and residential site development projects. This is an entry-level position with a clear path to becoming a pipe layer, equipment operator, or foreman.Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Assist with installation of fire lines and water mains (DIP, C900, PVC, CPVC, HDPE)
  • Help prepare trenches, including bedding, grading, and backfill
  • Assist pipe layers with setting pipe, fittings, valves, and fire hydrants
  • Pull string line and assist with line and grade alignment
  • Support hydrostatic pressure testing, flushing, and chlorination
  • Load, unload, and stage pipe and materials
  • Use basic hand tools (shovels, levels, tape measure, pipe tools)
  • Maintain a clean and safe trench and jobsite
  • Follow all trench safety and excavation safety procedures
  • Work safely around heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, trench boxes)
Required Skills/Abilities: Required
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. regularly
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Reliable transportation to job sites
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Ability to follow directions and work in a team environment
Preferred
  • Experience with underground utilities, water mains, or fire lines
