Responsibilities

Job Summary: The Parts Cleaner is responsible for removing oils, lubricants (including WD-40), and contaminants from metal components using industrial cleaning equipment and chemical degreasers. This role ensures parts meet cleanliness standards required for assembly, coating, or shipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean metal parts using industrial degreasers, solvents, or aqueous cleaning systems
  • Remove residues such as WD-40, cutting oils, and machining fluids
  • Operate equipment such as:
    • Parts washers (manual or automated)
    • Ultrasonic cleaners (if applicable)
    • Spray or immersion cleaning systems
  • Inspect parts to ensure they are free of oil, residue, and debris
  • Dry parts using air, heat, or wiping methods to prevent corrosion or contamination
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and cleaning specifications
  • Maintain and replenish cleaning solutions and chemicals
  • Dispose of waste fluids according to environmental and safety regulations
  • Keep work area clean and organized
Qualifications

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial cleaning preferred but not required
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and safety data sheets (SDS)
  • Physical ability to:
  • Attention to detail and consistency, consistent attendance
  • Individual must be a Citizen of the United States, or Permanent resident alien of the United States, or Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)

Preferred Qualification

  • Experience with parts washers or ultrasonic cleaning systems
  • OSHA safety training or similar certification

Safety Responsibilities

  • Handle all chemicals (e.g., industrial degreasers) safely and according to SDS guidelines
  • Use proper PPE at all times
  • Report spills, hazards, or equipment issues immediately

Performance Metrics Include

  • Cleanliness quality (no residual oil/WD-40) - Minimal rework or rejected parts
  • Throughput (parts cleaned per shift)
  • Compliance with safety and environmental standards
