Razom is seeking a Literature Program intern to help coordinate literary programming, translation initiatives, author engagements, and to create communications materials that bring Ukrainian literature to English-speaking audiences.

Candidates must be studying or working towards a university degree in the United States. This position is paid, part-time, with some in-person components preferred, based between Razom’s Washington, DC and New York teams. Strong English-language writing skills are required, and a background in writing, publishing, journalism, or translation is strongly preferred. Knowledge of Ukrainian literature or the Ukrainian language is a great asset, but not required, as this internship is an opportunity to dive into the Ukrainian literary world.

Internship hours and duration can be adjusted to accommodate schedules, with some portion of the work being remote. We encourage candidates to explore university funding or college credit options, if applicable. At Razom, mentorship is highly valued, and interns are exposed to different Razom initiatives over the course of their internships.

Razom Literature, part of the Connect pillar of Razom, is seeking a Fall semester intern to support the program’s literary initiatives and coordination. The best candidate is comfortable managing multiple moving pieces and confident coordinating with authors, translators, publishers, and institutional partners — skills that come first, alongside strong writing and communication ability across both long-form (blog) and short-form (social media) formats.

The internship offers hands-on training in how literary programs are run end to end: coordinating author tours, book fairs, and translation grants; managing event logistics; and communicating directly with authors, translators, publishers, and partners. This is accomplished through upcoming collaborations with universities, literary institutions, and festivals, including the Lviv Book Forum and Frankfurt Book Fair, under the supervision of the Razom Head of Literature. Alongside this coordination work, the intern will also draft newsletters, event copy, grantee updates, and content for the blog and social channels — an opportunity to build both project management and editorial experience within a nonprofit literary program.

The main objective of this internship is to ensure the successful planning, execution, and follow-up on literary programs, and to grow Razom Literature’s presence and audience through original written content during the Fall semester.

Working with the Head of Razom Literature, the intern will be responsible for:

• Supporting logistics and coordination of literary events and programming, including author tours, book fairs, and festival panels
• Assisting with grant administration and correspondence for grantees, translators, and touring authors, including travel coordination support
• Helping coordinate Razom’s library microgrant project, including tracking applications, communicating with recipients, and supporting fulfillment
• Together with the Head of Razom Literature, conducting research on Ukrainian authors, publishers, translators, and literary institutions
• Helping build relationships with universities and literary institutions for future collaborations
• Taking and maintaining notes and assisting with task management
• Creating content for and contributing to the Razom blog, including posts on author events, translation projects, and Ukrainian literary news for English-speaking audiences
• Writing social media posts (Instagram, Facebook) to promote events, grantee accomplishments, and Ukrainian books in translation
• Drafting external communications materials, including newsletters, donor updates, and event announcements
• Writing impact reports on literature programs and preparing materials for external communications channels

• Available to work 10-15 hours per week
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects, deadlines, and stakeholders at once
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Prior experience in project coordination, event planning, or program administration is a strong plus
• Experience with Canva or similar tools is a plus
• Ukrainian language skills (reading/speaking) are a strong plus.
