Job description

UK King’s Daughters, a 465-bed regional referral center located in Ashland, Kentucky, is seeking a board-eligible/certified psychiatrist to provide outpatient mental healthcare to our community. We are part of the University of Kentucky Health system and operate 40+ primary care clinics in outlying areas of Kentucky and Ohio, which refer patients from a catchment area of about 750,000 people to our main campus for testing and treatment. In 2025 we completed a large construction project on campus, providing us with a new main entrance, a brand-new ER, and an all-new Imaging Department. Our Emergency Department sees more than 70,000 patients per year. We offer nearly all medical specialties at our facility, except pediatric subspecialties. We are continuing to see significant growth in patient volumes at our facility.

The incoming physician will receive annual guarantees of $400,000 plus wRVU productivity. King’s Daughters also provides excellent benefits (health, vision, dental, life, retirement), generous vacation and CME, signing bonus, and student loan support.
UK King’s Daughters features a growing collegial team of psychiatrists along with skilled advanced providers, serving a diverse community with a variety of behavioral health needs.
The physician will also take call in our 27-bed Behavioral Medicine Unit that specializes in the stabilization of acute episodes as well. Patients attend daily individual and/or group therapy sessions. We collaborate with patients, their loved ones, and other healthcare professionals to develop an appropriate course of treatment, aiming to enable patients to return home and resume their lives as quickly as possible. Discharge planners and case managers help coordinate care following hospitalization.

Our Portsmouth, Ohio outpatient office has an excellent team of professionals who work to help patients manage daily responsibilities, social connections, psychological testing and provide treatments for various mental health conditions.

The practice location, Portsmouth, Ohio is a safe, family-friendly community with great schools, affordable living, and excellent local shopping and dining. Portsmouth also offers access to beautiful state and national parks and a variety of outdoor pursuits such as hiking, skiing, whitewater rafting, golf, tennis, cave exploration, hunting, and fishing. Portsmouth is conveniently located within several hours from Lexington, Kentucky, Cincinnati, and Columbus, Ohio.
