Summary/Description:
The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Retzky Collegeof Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking a full time Clinical Instructor/ClinicalPharmacist within Ambulatory Pharmacy Services. The Clinical Instructor/Clinical Pharmacist provides a high levelof comprehensive pharmaceutical services as defined in the Departmental MissionStatement and the Standards of Practice. This position organizes, supervises,directs, and verifies the duties and functions performed by supportivepersonnel to ensure the provision of accurate, efficient, and appropriate drugdistribution services to the patient. This position also provides directpatient care activities to ensure safe and effective drug therapy through theprovision of clinical services. Further, the person in this position identifiespotential problems relating to activities and communicates those situationsand/or solutions to the appropriate managerial personnel. Finally, the personin this position educates and/or advises pharmacy students and pharmacyresidents/fellows as well as other health care students and residents.

Duties:
Clinical Instructor responsibilities of the position include theprovision of didactic and clinical experiential teaching/training in theCollege of Pharmacy's Doctor of Pharmacy Program.
Clinical Pharmacist responsibilities include:
  • Processing of orders - prioritize and verify all new medication orders ensuring accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Check accuracy of all medications prior to dispensing.
  • Personnel supervision - directly supervises pharmacy technicians, students, and residents.
  • Quality Assurance - participates in Medication Use Evaluations.
  • Drug Information - provides complete and accurate drug information.
  • Cost containment - drug therapy provided is cost-effective.
  • Direct patient care - anticoagulation monitoring, participation in code team.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Work arrangement:
  • On-site position is located on the UIC campus. The pharmacist will support all Ambulatory Pharmacies remotely from a centralized worksite.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • PharmD degree from an ACPE accredited Doctor of Pharmacy Program.
  • Must be licensed by the State of Illinois as a Pharmacist or eligible for such license by start date.
  • Must possess knowledge and skills to qualify for a non-tenured clinical faculty position within the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the UIC College of Pharmacy.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior cleanroom compounding experience preferred.
