What is a UIC Nurse?

A UIC Nurse is a registered nurse who works at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) or within its affiliated medical centers and clinics. These nurses provide patient care, assist in medical procedures, and support healthcare teams in various specialties such as emergency, surgical, pediatrics, or primary care. UIC Nurses are also involved in patient education, health promotion, and may participate in research or academic activities associated with the university. They are licensed professionals who must meet state and institutional requirements for nursing practice.

How does a UIC Nurse typically collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in a hospital setting?

UIC Nurses work closely with a variety of healthcare professionals, including physicians, pharmacists, social workers, and therapists, to provide comprehensive patient care. Regular interdisciplinary team meetings and patient rounds are common, where nurses share their observations, advocate for patient needs, and contribute to care plans.
