Lead Cafeteria Cashier - The Friendly Face of Food & Finance
Lead with confidence. Serve with a smile.
About the Role:
As the Lead Cafeteria Cashier, you're more than just a cashier - you're a team mentor, a trusted money handler, and a key part of the daily rhythm in our cafeteria. You'll not only operate the register and help keep the dining area ready, but also train new cashiers, manage money drops, and help make events like our Farmers Market run smoothly.
If you've got a knack for numbers, a love for helping people, and a steady hand when it comes to handling cash, this could be your perfect next step.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Train and mentor new cafeteria cashiers to set them up for success.
  • Manage cashier banks, fulfill change orders, and conduct end-of-shift closeouts.
  • Operate a cash register with accuracy, providing fast and friendly service.
  • Prepare and verify deposits and money drops at the end of shifts.
  • Support dining area setup and service during meal periods.
  • Handle cashiering at Farmers Market events and other special functions.
  • Provide great customer service - every transaction is an opportunity to brighten someone's day!
What You Bring:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years of experience as a food service cashier
  • A current Food Handler's Permit (or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire)
  • Proficiency in operating a cash register, giving accurate change, and using a calculator
  • Strong basic math skills for deposit prep and transaction tracking
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - you're friendly, calm, and helpful
Preferred:
  • Experience working in a healthcare food service environment
  • Experience training or mentoring team members
Why You'll Love It Here:
  • You get to lead by example and help new teammates grow.
  • Your attention to detail helps keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
  • You'll be part of a team that values service, accuracy, and a welcoming atmosphere.
  • With events like our Farmers Market, no two days are ever quite the same.

Ready to take charge at the register and lead your team with positivity and precision?
