Ugc Editing information

What is UGC editing?

UGC editing refers to the process of editing User-Generated Content, such as videos, photos, or reviews created by everyday users rather than professional creators. UGC editors enhance raw content by trimming, adding effects, correcting color, and ensuring it aligns with a brand’s style and message. This type of editing is crucial for brands leveraging authentic content in marketing campaigns, as polished UGC can boost engagement and trust. UGC editing also often involves adapting content for different platforms and formats, such as Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a UGC editor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a UGC Editor, you need strong video editing skills, a good eye for storytelling, and familiarity with social media trends, typically supported by experience in content creation or digital marketing. Proficiency with editing tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or mobile editing apps, as well as knowledge of platform-specific requirements, is essential. Creativity, attention to detail, and strong communication skills help UGC Editors craft engaging content that resonates with audiences. These skills ensure content is high-quality, on-brand, and effective at driving audience engagement and growth.

What are some common challenges faced by UGC editors and how can they overcome them?

UGC Editors often face the challenge of working with varied content quality and styles, since user-generated content can differ greatly in tone and technical standards. To overcome this, editors need strong communication skills to guide creators and set clear expectations, as well as proficiency in editing tools to enhance raw footage effectively. Time management is also crucial, as UGC projects often have quick turnaround times. Building a good workflow and staying organized helps maintain quality and meet deadlines.

Performance Video Editor (Contract)

Instant Hydration Inc

Dover, DE • On-site

Full-time

Job description

Description:

We’re looking for a Contract Performance Video Editor to support the development and execution of high-performing paid and organic social creative across our marketing channels.

You’ll own the editing, iteration, and optimization of short-form video content and work across Creative Strategy, Growth, and Marketing to deliver high-quality creative that drives engagement, conversion, and business results.

This is a high-ownership, high-impact role for someone who can operate independently, think beyond the brief, and ship high-quality work quickly. You’ll help shape both our creative production function and our broader culture as we grow.

Requirements:What You’ll Do
  • Edit conversion-focused video ads for Meta, Google, and YouTube from Creative Strategist briefs and scripts.
  • Cut whitelisted/creator (influencer) footage into platform-native ads that preserve creator authenticity while hitting performance structure.
  • Produce in-house creative ads from internal and stock assets — including hooks, B-roll, motion text, captions, and sound design.
  • Exceptional attention to detail; able to consistently deliver client-ready work with minimal QA, including accurate spelling, grammar, capitalization, asset selection, timing, clip placement, and adherence to brand standards.
  • Build multiple variants per concept (hook tests, length cuts, aspect ratios) to feed the testing roadmap.
  • Iterate quickly against paid performance data, sharpening hooks, pacing, and retention from scroll-stop and hold-rate signals.
  • Maintain platform-native specs and best practices across feed, Reels/Shorts, and in-stream placements.
  • Hold brand consistency — adhere to the Instant Hydration visual system while optimizing for performance.
  • Manage an organized asset library and version control to keep throughput high.
  • Proactively identify and source existing UGC, creator, product, retail, and brand assets from the creative library to execute briefs and maximize content output.
  • Take ownership of creative problem-solving by repurposing existing content into fresh, high-performing advertisements when new footage is unavailable.
What We’re Looking For
  • 2+ years editing video for paid social / DTC performance marketing (electrolyte, supplement, wellness, or CPG a plus).
  • Expert in Premiere Pro and/or After Effects (CapCut and Final Cut a plus).
  • A reel demonstrating direct-response ad work — not just brand films — ideally including whitelisted creator content.
  • Strong instinct for hooks, pacing, and retention; you understand why the first three seconds decide everything.
  • Fluency in platform-native formats and specs across Meta, YouTube, and Google.
  • Comfortable working from briefs and treating performance data as a creative input, not an afterthought.
  • High output and fast turnaround in a high-trust, iterative environment.
  • Highly self-motivated and resourceful, with the ability to navigate large asset libraries and execute against briefs with minimal oversight.
  • Demonstrated ability to think beyond execution by proactively identifying opportunities for new creative iterations.
  • Strong ownership mentality and bias toward action; able to independently move projects forward in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bonus: motion graphics, sound design, captioning, and UGC editing chops.
Nice to Haves
  • Experience with Premiere, motion design, and advanced video editing techniques.
  • Background in CPG, retail, DTC, ecommerce, food & beverage, or wellness brands.
  • Experience working alongside creative strategists, media buyers, or growth marketing teams.
  • Understanding of creative testing frameworks, paid social best practices, and performance marketing principles.
