Assistant Soccer Coach — After-School Youth Program

Organization: Soccer is Life! by Bridge Los Angeles (501(c)(3) nonprofit • LAUSD Approved Vendor)
Positions available: 2 (one per school site)
Type: Part-time, hourly, seasonal with potential to continue year-round
Compensation: $25.00-30.00 per hour (5 hours a week)
Season: September 15, 2026 – May 2027, with Spring League and tournament opportunities to follow
About Us
Bridge Los Angeles is a locally owned and operated 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving students across the San Fernando Valley. Our Soccer is Life! program brings professional-level, after-school soccer instruction directly to school campuses — removing the cost and transportation barriers that keep so many kids out of organized sports.
We currently serve students at Montague Charter Academy in Pacoima, CA and Magnolia Science Academy 7 in Northridge, CA, plus another 180 students through our tournaments. Our head coaches are former semi-professional, professional, or Division I college players holding U.S. Soccer licenses or UEFA diplomas.
Our mission: Where passion for soccer meets purpose and growth.

Open Positions
Site 1 — Magnolia Science Academy 7
  • Students: 3rd through 5th grade
  • Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:45 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.
  • Sessions: 1.5 hours each (your are paid for 3.5 hours total)
Site 2 — Montague Charter Academy (Pacoima)
  • Students: Kinder through 5th grade
  • Schedule: Tuesdays 2:00pm - 4:00pm, Thursdays 3:00pm - 4:00pm, and Fridays 2:30pm - 4:00pm
  • Students: Currently serving 60 students in weekly soccer sessions
What You'll Do
  • Support the Head Coach in delivering a structured, age-appropriate soccer curriculum
  • Lead small-group instruction grouped by age and skill level
  • Run warm-ups, cool-downs, and injury-prevention routines
  • Teach technical fundamentals: dribbling, passing, first touch, shooting, 1v1 attacking and defending
  • Guide tactical development as players progress: positioning, spacing, defensive shape, small-sided play
  • Supervise match play and reinforce sportsmanship, teamwork, and confidence
  • Set up and break down equipment (goals, cones, pinnies, ball bags)
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and encouraging environment for every student
  • Support tournaments, showcase days, and optional field trips to professional matches (paid at the standard hourly rate)
What We're Looking For

Required:
  • Playing or coaching experience at the competitive youth, high school, club, college, or professional level
  • Experience working with elementary school-age youth
  • Reliability and consistent availability on the scheduled days
  • Ability to pass a background check and TB test
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, patient coaching style
Preferred:
  • U.S. Soccer or U.S. Club Soccer license, or a UEFA diploma (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Refereeing experience
