Welcome to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UC Irvine School of Medicine. As the only academic medical center serving the demographically diverse and culturally rich population of Orange County, we are dedicated to the tripartite mission of UC Irvine: Discover. Teach. Heal. As champions for women's health, our calling is to deliver clinically excellent, patient-centered, holistic and accessible obstetrical and gynecological care to the women of our community, advance the science of women's health in a meaningful and applicable fashion, and train the future leaders in women's healthcare. Our department has a proud tradition of clinical excellence. It comprises nationally and internationally recognized leaders in maternal fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, family planning, and general obstetrics and gynecology. Our department is also one of the first in the nation to house a dedicated Division of Obstetric-Gynecologic Hospitalists. Although primarily based at the 400-bed, tertiary referral UCI Health Douglas Hospital in Orange, our faculty and staff serve a number of clinical practice locations throughout the region, including Long Beach, Newport Beach, Fountain Valley, Santa Ana, Anaheim and Laguna Hills.

Responsibilities

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University California Irvine School of Medicine is seeking a part time OBGYN Hospitalist to join its faculty. The program is accredited and seeking 1 part time candidate. Must possess an MD or DO and have a demonstrated career focus in obstetrics. A track record of success and highly regarded peer review is expected. Active candidates for this program must be board certified (or active candidates) and shall have ACLS for OB and NRP certification within one year of being hired. Incumbent shall be eligible for a faculty title, retirement and benefits packages unique to University employees. Salary and rank shall be commensurate with education and experience; Malpractice and tail coverage shall be provided through the University.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Knowledge of Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and patient privacy issues pertaining to the delivery of health care especially in mental health.
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
  • Must possess an MD or DO and have a demonstrated career focus in obstetrics. A track record of success and highly regarded peer review is expected.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Ability to delegate and empower staff and build strong employee morale.
  • Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance
  • Active candidates for this program must be board certified (or active candidates) and shall have ACLS for OB and NRP certification within one year of being hired.
  • At least one year of practice exclusive of internship; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
  • A demonstrated career focus in obstetrics. A track record of success and highly regarded peer review is expected.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of standard hospital policies, procedures and forms.
  • Conceptually understands electronic medical records.
