Purpose of Your Licensed Practical Nurse LPN Job Position

The primary purpose of your position as a Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN in the Nursing Home environment is to provide direct nursing care to the residents, and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by CNAs and other nursing personnel. To monitor the performance of CNAs, nursing and non-licensed personnel, Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN provide education and counseling, perform disciplinary action as necessary, and complete performance evaluations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN
  • Assesses patients by physical examination, including pertinent diagnostic testing to determine health status.
  • Administers medications and treatments.
  • Participates in the care planning process.
  • Supervises LPNs and certified nursing assistants.
  • Communicates with physicians regarding changes in residentโ€™s conditions, diagnostic test results, etc.
  • Documents assessments and care in compliance with standards of care and company policy.
  • Educates patients and their families on health-related issues.
  • Completes required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.
