The Wilson Alaska Technical Center (WATC) is searching for a Seismo-Acoustic Engineer to join our engineering team in maintaining and improving seismic and infrasound stations around the globe - from Antarctica to the remote Pacific Islands. This position will help maintain stations through fieldwork and remote monitoring and troubleshooting to ensure high data availability and quality. WATC was created to recognize the accomplishments and growing stature of nuclear treaty monitoring support programs at the Geophysical Institute of the University of Alaska Fairbanks. WATC operates and maintains more than twenty infrasound and seismic arrays worldwide, providing real-time data that are used for monitoring nuclear proliferation, volcanic eruptions, and earthquake activity. This position will help maintain stations through fieldwork and remote monitoring and troubleshooting to ensure high data availability and quality. Our ideal candidate will have experience in operating, maintaining, and calibrating broadband seismometers. This position will help design, operate, monitor and maintain power and communication systems supporting global seismo-acoustic stations.

This position will be physically located at the UAF campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. The successful finalist will be expected to report to duty at the UAF office on the first day of employment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree and two years research experience at the postgraduate level in a field relevant to the research (e.g. science, math, business), or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Details:
This position is full/part-time, Grade 80 , term-funded, exempt, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule , based on education and experience.
