SUMMARY
  • This position is responsible for accurate loading, moving product and unloading product by operating a forklift to lift and transport product pallets from palletizers to warehouse storage areas and to trucks, rail cars, and containers.
  • Hourly Rate: $21.97 -$25.06
FUNCTIONS
  • Knows and observes Plant Safety work procedures and rules, Environmental Practices and GMP guidelines.
  • Transfers finished goods product from the palletized area to their designated storage locations in the warehouse according to defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Transfers finished goods product from racks or other staging areas to trailers or railcars according to defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Loads trucks or railcars in the most efficient and timely manner possible according to defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Responsible for process quality and Safe Quality Food (SQF) program.  Perform quality checks at prescribed intervals to ensure the best quality products are being shipped.  Initiate documentation and provide signature to verify compliance with all required quality & SQF checks for the assigned area.
  • Support and/or participate on cross-functional, department and/or site wide teams. 
  • Responsible for the operation, daily inspection and daily maintenance of his/her assigned forklift. 
  • Must maintain material-handling standards set by the Warehouse Team Leader.
  • Must maintain safe driving record with forklift by watching for others and maintaining safe speed while meeting production goals and respecting all safety procedures.
  • Understands and responds to serious hazards of sugar dust accumulations by following all cleaning schedules to limit hazards, staying alert for hazardous conditions, completing Sugar Log for sugar spill 50# +, and reporting conditions if unable to fix.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses

  • High School Diploma or GED

 

Experience

  • Minimum one year forklift driving experience required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid forklift license.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The associate is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold and extreme heat. The associate is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
