PURPOSE STATEMENT:
The job of cafeteria manager requires running the kitchen in a safe, efficient manner that meets mandated requirements within nutritional, budget and safety constraints.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Creates a positive environment to provide quality customer service and retention of food service staff.
  • Oversees implementation of menu plans to meet students' mandated health and nutrition requirements.
  • Inspects received food items/supplies for the purpose of verifying quantity, quality, safety and specification of orders.
  • Inventories and stocks food supplies to ensure availability and security of items.
  • Over sees production of foods to ensure they meet mandated nutrition and meal requirements.
  • Provides food service for meals including catering events, field trips, workshops, etc.
  • Manages the site operation to provide safe, efficient, food services at the site in compliance with health department, HACCP, USDA regulations.
  • Prepared finance, activity, and food production reports for the purpose of providing written support or conveying information in compliance with corporation and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Responds to inquiries of students, staff and public to provide information regarding accounts, payment options, nutrition information.
  • Over sees HACCP/Health Department regulations to provide a safe and efficient food service.
  • Cash management and account reconciliation completed accurately to provide for a secure financial program.
  • Reports food service equipment malfunctions to the food service director to maintain safe operating conditions.
  • Assists other employees or covers other positions as needed for coverage of the daily tasks of the food service operation.
  • Trains employees and monitors/evaluates job performance to help employees achieve success in the child nutrition program.
  • Directs employees in their tasks
  • May be assigned additional duties at the discretion of the food service director
  • After hours duties may be required on occasion

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS:
Works in commercial kitchen setting and some general office setting
Job requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching crawling and significant finger dexterity. Repetitive motion required for typing, filing, use of hands and wrists. 30% sitting; 50% walking/lifting; 20% standing. Job performed under some extreme temperature variations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Job related experience required
HS Diploma or equivalent
Continuing Education requirements: 10 hr professional development hours yearly; HACCP training yearly; Civil Rights Training yearly
School Nutrition Association Membership desired
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Less than 12 months
Benefits eligible
8 hrs day elementary manager, Hours are 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Grade 12 Classified Staff Salary Matrix, Starting Hourly rate replacement: $19.63-23.55 based on experience
An additional $1 per hour will be paid from referendum funds
