Responsibilities
Responsible for supervising prior authorization, central scheduling, and insurance verification team in workflow. Responsible for being a liaison between clinical staff, physicians, ancillary departments, and the central scheduling / prior authorization / insurance verification staff. This position will work directly with physicians and nursing staff in obtaining orders for drugs that need prior authorizations and work with prior authorization team members to be sure the order goes to the correct person. This person will also be the liaison for NGDC with any outsourced vendors concerning prior authorizations.
Qualifications
1. Knowledge of insurance industry and billing procedures and guidelines.
OR
Associates Degree in Business or related field
2. Knowledge of medical terminology, medications for Rheumatology and Oncology, and experience in obtaining drug authorizations is crucial. Familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
3. Ability to work independently.
4. Good oral and written communication skills; knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type proper correspondence. Skill in using computer programs and applications. Skill in typing a minimum of 40 wpm.
5. Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and computer spreadsheet programs.
