Position Summary

Overall management of the Imaging Department. The Director shall plan, organize and supervise all activities of the department according to hospital policies, standard practices of the profession, and state and federal laws. The Director is given general guidance and direction by the Administrator and the Medical Director and is expected to function with initiative and independent judgment. Must be able to perform jobs in all patient care and operational areas subject to reasonable accommodations. Also must participate in the Respiratory Protection Program, which may include the wearing of a respirator. This is a nonโ€‘union position. See Essential Job Functions.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Plans, directs and supervises operational aspects of the department regarding services, programs, and evaluation of such programs.
  2. Interviews and selects applicants for employment; assures appropriate orientation, teaching, supervision and evaluation of department personnel; initiates and follows through in a timely manner with appropriate disciplinary measures when warranted.
  3. Establishes departmental strategic plan and annual goals; implements department standards, objectives, priorities and facilitates change based on the needs of patients and their families, physicians and staff.
  4. Develops, implements and maintains:
    1. financial budget;
    2. marketing strategy consistent with approved department goals and parameters;
    3. cost controls.
  5. Maintains policies, rules and procedures applicable to the personnel equipment, facilities and safety of the department.
  6. Manages the enforcement of said rules, policies, and procedures and periodically reviews to insure that followโ€‘through is maintained.
  7. Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of the department directly or indirectly through subordinate supervisors, delegates authority to immediate supervisors as deemed advisable.
  8. Maintains a working knowledge of management reports, such as revenue, and expense statements, labor distributions and payroll reports, and other such reports, used as management tools, to identify problems and upon which operating decisions may be based.
  9. Recommends action to the Chief Operating Officer and Medical Director in regard to equipment modification, new equipment, and construction within the department.
  10. Assists in planning and recommends facilities, equipment, and personnel needs based on cost justification, increased volume and improved quality.
  11. Maintains open and effective communication between staff and management.
  12. Carries out the recommendations of the radiation safety officer and the radiation physicist.
  13. Expeditiously handles staff, physician, patient, interdepartmental complaints and problems, providing accurate and timely followโ€‘up and corrective action if needed.
  14. Maintains awareness and participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) to ensure a safe patient environment.
  15. Attends and actively participates in team conferences and staff meetings.
  16. Participates actively in orientation of new employees and onโ€‘theโ€‘job training of assigned personnel.
  17. Adheres to all Dameron Hospital Association policies and procedures including but not limited to, the hospital Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, safety rules, Joint Commission standards, California Department of Public Health (CDPH) regulations and any other regulatory agency.
  18. Provides methodology for dissemination of information providing opportunities for discussions of division problems, and orientation of new projects or procedures, as assigned.
  19. Performs all tasks demonstrating service excellence to both staff and customers.
  20. Demonstrates, supports, and models the mission, vision, values and code of conduct for Dameron Hospital Association.
  21. Communicates appropriately and effectively to support the department mission.
QualificationsEducation
  • Associate degree required, bachelorโ€™s degree preferred.
Experience
  • Five yearโ€™s experience in taking diagnostic radiographs in a hospital or clinic, 3โ€‘5 years of which must be in a supervisory capacity.
Licenses/Certificates
  • Current ARRT License.
  • Current BLS Certification through AHA required.
  • Current California State License CRT.
