Job description

Position Summary: MBC Companies (Alpha Foods), a manufacturer and distributor of frozen food products located in Waller, Texas is currently seeking a Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities within the facility, to ensure optimal performance, reliability, efficiency, quality and safety. This role requires strong leadership, a robust understanding of food safety standards, and the ability to troubleshoot problems in a fast-paced environment. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for implementing preventative and predictive maintenance programs, meeting budgetary goals, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing staff and equipment performance, and driving continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily maintenance needs to meet internal performance goals, minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, food safety and quality standards in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Lead, train, and develop team members to foster a high-performing and technically competent workforce.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Manage preventative and predictive maintenance programs, auditing for scope, frequency and accuracy to ensure proper care of critical assets.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality Assurance, Sanitation, and Safety to ensure seamless plant operations.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives related to efficiency, labor utilization, equipment uptime, and material yield.
  • Promote and enforce safety protocols, cultivating a culture of safety and accountability across the organization.
  • Manage labor resources effectively to meet operational needs within budgetary constraints.
  • Maintain documentation for audits, inspections, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and manage vendor relationships to ensure availability of critical components.
  • Support capital projects, equipment installations, and plant expansions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in food manufacturing or a similar regulated production environment, with 2+ years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC controlled equipment.
  • Familiarity with CMMS
  • Understanding of food safety and regulatory compliance standards (HACCP, GMPs, SQF/BRC, OSHA).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and maintenance reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities, specifically under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work in cold, wet, and noisy environments typical of food production areas.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and other shifts as required.
